Since you're all registered, no problem. Mark and Keith are registered, too, but didn't put down a preference...tell 'em to send a note in, since I only assign those spots (especially the pre-dawn ones) to people who've committed to being there. Jim and I who have raced the GT30 before will split however many runs there will be that day, Mark and Keith will both run a full set of runs.
We'll be so busy swapping drivers, and working on the car (hopefully not too much...), that we may not have time to work the course. Therefore Jim and I would like to sign up for "Tear down", and I'm going to tell Mark and Keith to sign up for something else, to free them up.

When you get registered. This method's been working pretty well -- haven't been burned lately by anyone who volunteered and then decided not to sign up, and haven't gotten any complaints about not having a shot at those jobs. Plus it's an incentive for those who can to register early. I understand about schedules...I've had to hold off plenty of times, and I don't chalk myself into a job before I've registered. I'm still new to autocross.....what exactly is a Chicago Box. I heard there was one located on the course we just ran at SPC. It was the very first obstacle at the last event. Take a look at the course map and you should be able to spot it. That's right -- it was a way of getting around the minimum 45' slalom spacing. Might even have been at one of the early National Championships -- Chicago Region ran the second or third one. The SCCA mandated minimum distances between cones in a slalom. Someone (from Chicago?) circumvented the rule by creating a Chicago box. So now they could make a slalom as tight as they wanted.
Not entirely. There's some visual intimidation involved.Thankfully no one here makes them tight, so they are really just a waste of cones.
