Potty break? Hold it...makes you faster. :D

What...my poker face wasn't in place?

Let's not overstate that. Yes, dealing with the late shows (expect a modified pre-event e-mail next month to make things really clear...also expect Alexis and I to have a low BS tolerance) and the additional people made working out the run groups a little longer, but not that much. The fact is that the weather had more effect than anything else. Starting 20 minutes earlier might have gotten the third group a second dry run. Running through lunch (like we'd talked about, then abandoned for some reason...I like cold ziti!) might have gained another 10 minutes...people were admirably quick about eating and getting back to things. The fourth group would have been drenched no matter what. The rain could have come earlier, too. That's what Dan and Nick based their decision on -- the view on the radar midway through the first group. Better to leave everyone happily wanting a few more than to struggle to complete an event...the last group was difficult enough. We did well enough.

Simple failure to communicate. It was stated, but obviously not clearly enough for folks to get the idea.

That's the kind of thing that needs to be decided early and announced at the driver's meeting. Communicating changes from "the norm" with 60+ people without the use of a good PA system (SPC doesn't allow us to use the PA) is difficult at best.

The "Push Harder, Suck Less" philosophy explained:
Push Harder - Drive as close to the limit of your tires as possible.
Suck Less - Drive something resembling a proper racing line.

You're right, and the only reason we were looking at it was to try and beat the weather. Not a big deal that everyone chose otherwise, and everyone did respond to a shortened break and got back to business quickly. It really didn't cost too much time.

We've sure had our share of rain this year, but it's still fun. Peeling off the wet socks is the best!

Dan, Nick, it was great to see you guys out again, and y'all did a good job keeping a very full event moving smoothly. 72 drivers is a record, I think, and many of them were novices, which is great to see. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves, in spite of the rain!

Charles and Loren, thanks for getting the results up so quickly. Nice job to Stephen Mester - got me by 1/100th - I musta blinked at the wrong time... RJ - you posted some very consistent times, there - Good Job. keep practicing!

Eric - thanks for posting the pix!

edit:
Jeremy - thanks for posting that video -
RJ - watch Jeremy's video - see where he shifted into second...
I get it now. Thanks again for your help. Im ready to go for april 24th, cant wait! Everyone was very helpful...I look foward to future events!
