May 2011 SPC Post Thread

Thanks everybody for another great day. Mike and I had to bug out before our run group finished in order to beat Mother Nature, but we made it to Wesley Chapel in record time. I did manage to get some good video:

Thanks again for another fun course. I thought I had it figured out walking it but it was definitely different once I got in the driver's seat. ;-)

We unfortunately had to bail early which I apologize for and thanks to whoever it was that covered my work duty. Christina is suffering from a nasty stomache bug that is likely a bonus gift from her daughter's daycare.... I'm willing to work double duty next month for you.

Maybe I'll see some of you Monday at Tilted Kilt as I'm going to try and make it out.

Glad everyone seemed to enjoy the course. Sorry about the whole rain thing. I guess it's bound to happen from time to time here in sunny Florida.

Should have results tonight if the data doesn't require too much clean-up. Haven't looked at it yet.

Congrats to Jeff Lloyd for winning the FROC! And to Bill Beers for a VERY close second. Oh, and to that Mustang guy, Drew Scoda, who came in third.

What's a little rain?

Thanks very much to Jeff for the use of the Creamsicle today. The FROC was definitely fun to mix in.

I ended up codriving with Eva and Doug, and really enjoyed playing with them and their car. Good times.

I did not enjoy garbage duty. Bottles and cans were everywhere, and I mean everywhere. Folks, the entry fee does NOT include cleanup. If you take a bottle or can, make darn sure you put one in a garbage can or bag. Please. We must respect the sites we use, 'cause they can boot us for any reason, at any time. And if we leave a mess, that could be good enough reason for them.

Another fun FAST event, the froc was fun, though I seem to be Miata challenged, the clutch was really hard, didn't seem to move at all ! :D

I kinda enjoyed running in the rain, of course it was better that I finally don't have to pay for dinner for a change. Plus the timer didn't like my car so I got a fair share of re-runs that made for some "bonus" runs.

I have all the Orange vests and flags drying out in my garage, so someone please remind me to bring them with me to brooksville.

John, I have your helmet and will bring it with me to the Kilt Monday, and don't forget the SPC forms.

Steve ill co-chair with you 8-)

Thanks to all for another fun day. Sorry we left at the end of our run group -- we usually like to hang around and watch and help clean up, but we chickened out when the rain started.

Thanks to Steve for the helpful tips. To all you noobs out there -- get an instructor to ride with you so you don't develop bad habits!

I'm still trying to figure out how it could be so much faster to go so slowly "the wrong way" around that first turn and be so much faster :?: Makes me wonder about some of the other optional turns we've had on courses this year.

Had great time as usual! X2 thanks to Jeff for the loaner car, it was a blast running in the rain! I am not quite used to the skinny peddle having so little effect though  Let's do the FROC thing again soon.

That has to be the coolest video I've seen ! Love the Deep Purple and the one shot with the clouds reflecting off the hood looked awesome ! Well done.

Event Results are posted.

Bob & Ron, I adjusted your class results as you guys discussed.

3rd group FROC times were handicapped by 2 seconds, not that it mattered much... but it did put a couple drivers pretty much on par with dry times.

While you review these results, bear in mind that classes A, C, H and J all ran when it was extremely wet... everyone else ran in the dry. There was some pretty impressive rain driving done today!

Yeah, from what I see, I say, "bring on the rain!"

Of course I also have to say I'm joking, I'd much rather run in nice dry cool comfortable low humidity partly cloudy weather :)

Thanks for another great event at SPC! :D

I wish I would have had the chance to run in the rain (I'm sure I will in time). I bet there could be a lot to learn from that.

Can't wait for next month. So now, off to another whole month of waiting.

Steve, I forgot about it yesterday, but I while I was setting the course, I picked about 8 plastic bottles that were left by the police guys and piled them at station 1. Hope someone got them and that they don't blame that on us.

I also want to give a big thanks to all the course workers that stood out in the rain for the last run group.

On that note, we used to have a handful of umbrellas in the trailer, but only a couple remain, we should get some more of the large ones. I'll watch out for some while I search for a screaming deal on a couple of canopies.

Thanks Jeff for providing the FROC-mobile.

Lol - John and I picked up that pile at the end of the day as we were trying to leave. Thanks for at least consolidating it. But still, there was more and I hope in the future folks will "police" themselves.

Kmart has 10x10 canopies with a "half wall" on sale for $58. EZ Up Sierra II. May as well grab some umbrellas too - would come in handy for courseworkers at Brooksville - sun or rain.
