Re: May 2011 SPC Post Thread
Great event. Thanks again for all of the effort to all of the core FAST guys.
We had some very good fighting in E1, so I had a blast even though Kyle ended up on top. And it's great to have Ron Croft back in that class.
I was displeased to run the FROC car in the rain, but I've gotta say that the Creamsicle wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It actually felt kinda solid and consistent. My mistake that killed me though was that I locked the brakes a couple of times on each run.

LOL, right. There were two braking points. One was approaching the "wrong way" turnaround. One was the hard right turn after the high speed straight.treekiller wrote:FixedRosko wrote:My mistake that killed me though was that I USED the brakes a couple of times on each run.

Had a great time, couldnt break out of 35 seconds
My best run: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwQMJPdVjYs" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
What a pain to drive home a few miles down the highway in the rain with all that front camber, my neon was all over the place lol

Racing against my NEON is like getting in a fight with a girl, if you win you, you can't brag about it, and if you lose, you hope nobody finds out!

Since I really don't generally jump in on the smack-talking...... I won't even mention that I beat Jamie driving a Miata!

You should be proud, bud. You showed everyone the best way around the first turnaround. I'm fairly certain that nobody there thought that was the best option. I tested it out on my first two runs. It was almost a two-second difference - for me anyway. Good job!wbeers690 wrote:ok and i wont mention the gap between me and loren in the FROC car... still sad jeff beat me by 54/1000ths of a second.. but all around im proud of myself for the FROC time and for doing so good in the rain

Hmmm. So Steve took first in class and 11th overall driving our car. Last time we let someone else drive our car, it was Eric G, driving our 350Z, who came in 7th overall and would have taken first in class as well.
How come everyone else can drive our cars better than we can?

Okay, now that I'm a little more rested and coherent...
Thanks to everyone who made yesterday happen! My co-chair Jim Reid was a huge help in getting things done and keeping the event moving. Thanks to Brian for wrangling the trailer and supplies, and all the usual suspects (Steve, Jamie, Registration and Tech guys, etc.) who did their thing. And those crazy folks who were willing to stand out in the rain and work course for 90 minutes... you are the unsung heroes of our sport!
Jeff, I think the FROC was a huge success and we should do it again sometime next season. Thanks for offering up your car for us to play in!

How about that close call on the track!!..
I think that the crossing of track should be done a little differently next time. That was a close call !!!.. Spc is a little small to cross paths .. Not alot of room for error .. If your going to cross paths I think it should be done right in front of start line .. Just saying ... Another great event by Fast Look foward to next time .. Glad everything played out without anyone getting hurt !!!
Sincerely
Andrew Therien

Great event! My apologies for leaving after my run but, my tires are not rain friendly and it was no fun going 45mph all the way home to Tampa so I would not hydroplane.
I just want to say to all those involved a
sincere "Well Done!!" and I will see you all at the next event!

Re: May 2011 SPC Post Thread
I missed any close calls, when was this? If the workers were doing their job, there was no need for there to be any close calls at all... ever. If there was a close call, it wasn't the fault of the course, it was the fault of the workers (probably at station 5) who weren't paying attention.
I did see at least one "late" call, but it wasn't anything I'd call "close".
Brooksville is actually a lot more dangerous as far as cars getting close to each other, because anytime you have 2 cars on course (which we always do), those two cars have to pass somewhere. On a 150' wide runway, that means two cars traveling at 40-60 mph headed towards each other with no more than about 100' between them. If one of them loses it... you'll see a "close call". If both of them lose it at the same time, things can get ugly in a hurry! We consider this carefully when we review a course for safety.
