Hi everyone. I just signed up to the site and also registeredt for my first autocross for July 10th.

I was wondering if anyone can give me some pointers to prepare for the day. I have the car setup and a helmet and such what I need is info as far as time I should show up the day of, and other things to prepare a novice such as myself.

I will be bringing along another friend and it will be his first event also. Cant wait!!

Thanks! :cool:

Hey, welcome to FAST!

Lots of info right at your fingertips.

Many pages of Novice Tips: http://drivefast.org/novice-tips/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And Event Info: http://drivefast.org/event-info/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And if you read the event info at registration, you'll find some hints about the daily schedule:
http://myautoevents.com/pls/mae/frmEven ... t_id=11808" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I'm not going to take the time to read all of that to see if everything is there, so:
7am - Gate Open
7:30am - Registration Open
9am - Course (usually) open for walking
9am - Registration closes (so be there before then!)
9am at Brooksville - Gate closes (you can't get in after that)
9:30 - (usually) instructed novice course walk
10:00 - (if we're on the ball) Driver's meeting
12:00 - Famous FAST Lunch
4-5pm - We're done and pack everything up.

The key is to show up early or at least on-time. As long as you have a safe car and a driver's license, everything else will fall into place. Profess your newbness and ask lots of questions, you'll have a good time!

Push Harder - Drive as close to the limit of your tires as possible.
Suck Less - Drive something resembling a proper racing line.

Don't worry about classing your first time out. like any sport you won't be good your first time out.. but enjoy it.. because the speed comes with experience. It's a blast even driving slow.. heck I've been driving slow for eek ~18 years. but I love every min, keeps me coming back. Last things to worry about is Classing and Modifications, because it's real easy to get caught up in the details and loose focus on driving.
