Might see you there. My flight lands TPA at 12:07 AM Saturday.buddy bodean wrote:As for getting it there I just can't do it. My 4-1/2hr flight gets in at 11:40pm Friday. Even with a late event start Saturday I would be hard pressed to get this done.

That's fine. Registration is still open until 10pm tonight. Just register online for Saturday, and we'll owe you a $10 credit. (remind us to give it to you)P.S. - I only reg'd for Sunday but would like to register for both days to use the practice course only on Sat.

Re: October Autox - 10/16
Oookay... get ready, Loren's thinking again. Pay attention!
Decided it was about time I finished the course design for Sunday. Was going to refine Billy's design, but then I remembered that he bailed on me (something about us changing the date of the event on him and him having to help somebody move or something...
)... so I don't feel obligated to use his course, he can design one some other time.
Then I got lazy and started looking at old Brooksville courses and came across the one we used last October, which was pretty cool. Looked up the forum thread, and everybody else thought it was cool, too. Last year, we ran the course as a single lapper on Saturday, and with subtle changes, as the Enduro on Sunday. I've decided to use the Sunday course, that is a given.
It got me thinking about the Enduro that so many people say they want to do. Well, we usually limit entries to 30-40 cars for an Enduro so that we can maximize the "Endurance" factor. We've already got 60 cars signed up for this one AND it's established as a points event. So, we can't do full-on Enduro...
BUT... maybe we can do a "mini-Enduro"? We know from last year that the course is about 50 seconds on average. If we do two laps, that's 100 seconds, and if we have an aggressive finish flagger, we can get away with probably 20 seconds of run overlap, which will make our start interval about 80-90 seconds. If we call it 90, that's 1.5 minutes per two-lap run... if we do 3 runs for our 60 drivers, that's 270 minutes of run-time. 4.5 hours of run-time is plenty doable if we do "flying worker changes" (send workers out one or two at a time without stopping the event).
SO... I ask you, friends... wanna do a "Mini-Enduro"? Three 2-lap runs (~100 seconds per run).
Gimme enough "yea" action and I'll run with it.

I would prefer 6 each 50 sec runs vs 3 each 100 sec runs
Gives you more opportunities to learn and adjust.
Just my 2 cents.

Re: October Autox - 10/16
The results are very mixed so far. Need more input.
As a little enticement, in addition to this being a tried and true Enduro course that we KNOW works well, if you go back to the 10/2010 post-event thread... all the secrets of this course are revealed and there's good video of several people actually driving THIS course. That's like cheating! The only way this could be easier is if you let Jeremy drive it for you.

5-nay and 4-yea
I'll hold off until Monday before making a decision, but so far it's looking like we'll probably not do the Enduro this time. (still gonna run the Enduro course, though)
