Thanks Scott. I'm glad I had 2 other clean sub 50 runs as well. I didn't even know you had a Miata. Do you have a NA, NB, or NC?

C'mon Scott, be honest. You don't have a Miata, Mary does. :D

I had a great time! :D Thanks everyone for all of your efforts into making it such a fun day.

Special thanks to:
Jamie, for allowing us to recycle his course from last month.
Doug, for finding us such a fantastic lunch.
Loren, for his input in all the new things the Chair positions have to cover.
and
Mike, for all his co-chairing help.

Also thanks for posting up your videos already Jeremy, Scott and Eric. Fun stuff! We are all anxious to see anyone's videos and pix they have to offer, so keep them coming.

Interesting pic Jeremy, of the turn-a-round. Anyone else notice how much more rubber was on the runway today vs other events?

Rants okay Brian. Actually, there were the same amount of workers for each run group. The third just seemed to re-organize differently. Job well done in all cases.
Solar wrote:I think we need some sort of sign in sheet or check in to make sure that all course workers are accounted for. Just my 2¢
Agree.

You did just fine. You all worked well as a group. Thank you.

Loren, I will get with you on some issues I had to help make the process a little smoother for the next Chairs.

Thanks for the videos, Greg! Was the intention to have the video from December start right after today's video played? Cool effect. It shows a good comparison of the two *same* courses.

Joe you did a great job today ! Things happen, but you know what ? No one can complain having 7 runs on the course we had today !

I was looking over the overall times, and I think I counted 5 or 6 drivers that had 7 clean runs. Say what you want about getting close to cones, blah blah.... but hey, something to be said to the drivers with clean runs ! .........yeah I was one of them :)

Thanks, Joe, that feedback would be great. We can talk Monday... but if it's important, back it up with an email. (you know me and my CRS)

Guess I'll go ahead and air a couple minor gripes that I needed bring up at some point.

First, the driver's meeting. I think Mike has great personality and did an okay job with the driver's meeting... on the surface. The problem is that a bunch of us spent a LOT of time compiling the information in the driver's meeting script because it's ALL important and it ALL needs to be covered EVERY time so that nobody (especially the newbs... but also the "experienced" who should know better) can say "I didn't know". Mike glossed over or completely skipped certain parts of the driver's meeting notes, instead focusing mostly on the parts that he highlighted. So... NOTE TO FUTURE EVENT CHAIRMEN: Read ALL of the driver's meeting script. Embellish until you're blue in the face and everybody's eyes glaze over if you want, but cover all of it!

One thing I saw today I know was mentioned at the driver's meeting, but perhaps not with enough authority. NO NOVICES RIDING WITH NOVICES. (If you haven't competed in more than 4 autocrosses, you are a novice.) There are two great reasons for this rule. First and foremost, it's an insurance requirement! Our policy states that riders MUST be either a student riding with an instructor or an instructor riding with a student. Period. We cannot consider a novice to be an instructor, so no novices riding with novices. Second reason is simply that you're not going to learn as much from another novice as you would from an experienced driver, and we WANT you to learn!

Not much more to gripe about, really. It was a pretty awesome day.

Cool. I think I remember seeing a picture posted of her in the car now that you mention it's a white NB.

Once Christian Trenchik (ctrench) gets good tires and dials in his car, he's gonna be a beast. His first time ever autocrossing on possibly the worst setup you could have, here are his times in order:

60.403+2
58.347
56.290
55.961
55.860
55.256
55.790

Consistent improvement, minus a silly mistake in the final run. That's pretty darn good, if you ask me. He did that on a 1.6 Miata with crap, stretched tires and not even a real suspension. Not bad! I'm glad I convinced him to try autocrossing, LOL!
