March 17 - School post-event
What? No school wrap-up thread?
Well, thanks to Ron Rice, the Results are posted.
Quick analysis (differences in raw times w/o cones, top and bottom two tossed) shows an average of 2.43 seconds improvement overall. Nice!
Another successful FAST autocross school... which is good, because it could be the last one for a while.

Re: March 17 - School post-event
Just finished logging and reconciling event credits from this weekend. Lots of event credits were earned and used, still a bunch more on the books.
Remember, if you were a school instructor, you earned an event credit. If you were a school worker, you earned two event credits.
Thanks again to all who helped. These event credits don't come close to the value of your time and experience!

It was pretty exhausting being a courseworker, being on your feet for so long. But, I was surprised at seeing the marked improvement of the students as they progressed. I would volunteer for the school again.

Re: March 17 - School post-event

A HUGE thank-you to everyone who spent their Saturday helping us improve our driving skills. It was a real treat for me to participate. It was also about the nicest group of people I have ever met. I hope to get involved in future events and get to know everyone better. Then the real fun begins...

Andrew -- we think part of your car did attend Sunday...we found a black plastic vent cover marked as a VW part. If you're missing something, I think it's in the trailer next time you make an event.aw614 wrote:Thanks again for the hosting the school really learned a lot, wish I could have gone on sunday too, looked like a fun course layout.

Re: March 17 - School post-event
It was a blast to be part of the instructor team! Very satisfying to see everyone improve throughout the day. Of course Team 3 showed the most improvement. ( Not verified, but hey, what's an Autocross thread without a bit of trash talk'n
) I hope we developed a few new AutoX addicts!

Yeah, Loren emailed me about it last night, I dropped it probably when I was taking my stuff back to my car after I finished my last runs of the day and forgot all about it as it was part of the stuff I had in my trunk, i almost forgot a floor mat.Jamie wrote:Andrew -- we think part of your car did attend Sunday...we found a black plastic vent cover marked as a VW part. Excellent way to spend a day at the autox
Thanks to everyone involved in making the novice school such a rewarding experience. I learned a lot, not just about autocrossing, but about the people who are part of FAST. I saw plenty of smiles on everyone's faces throughout the whole day.
In the words of Austin Powers: “Shagging-Groovy”.

Today is the oldest you've even been, yet the youngest you'll ever be, so enjoy this day while it lasts...

But did you have anyone score a class win when it counted the next day? Group 1 did....snookwheel wrote:Of course Team 3 showed the most improvement.

Re: March 17 - School post-event
I thought being an instructor was about restraint and tact...ok...one of our guys got FTD in the school...course he also got FTD before school too. Ringer??
Seriously, what fun it was to hop from car to car. Many different levels of accomplishment-bit of a challenge.
I was completely worn out that evening-hopefully the 'students' faired better.
I will say the school is a durability testament for the cars...surprised more didn't have issues.
Thanks for the opportunity!

My sentiments exactly. Totally dragging ass by day's end. Based on the smiles I think our group learned the most important lesson = to have fun.Tim_M wrote:Seriously, what fun it was to hop from car to car. Many different levels of accomplishment-bit of a challenge.
