Somehow I doubt that when you count actual heads on race day in May even if you fill up they will all show.

That said, I don't have a dog in this race personally and will still register the first day I see the notice. We all learn when we get burned.

Doug makes a good point about our 20 deg or 100 deg events, at first I was going to vote for 70/5, but I've changed my mind to 75/0.

Well, now that you've published that notion on a public forum... it doesn't seem like such a great idea.

But, really... we have only TWO autocross sites currently available. Is it really worth risking pissing off one of our site owners just to "cheat" a handful of guest names onto the list? We're of the opinion that we shouldn't "rock the boat" by trying to subvert the few rules that they place on us.

Not to mention that the airport manager can show up at will...and just might, since his daughter's boyfriend is interested in autocross. They'd contacted me about coming out to watch the December event (before the forecast went 75% for rain), and no, they weren't going to be on the access roster or necessarily come through the same gate we use.

Riding in the passengers seat feels so much more violent and out of control then actually driving does. I might have actually psyched myself out. I remember my first year, riding with some aggressive drivers in RWD cars on r-comps and thinking to myself, "how the hell are we not dead right now?" and "I could never drive like that."

I STILL feel the same way riding with certain people in certain cars today!

My vote for 70/5 for Brooksville. You can get 80 people easy for your events (if you want to) and you will still have some regulars that will not register early enough!(I learn my lesson!!!) How about, you let club members register before registration opens and if they don't, than first come first served. And you don't have to give up guests spots to people not paying attention.

Seems that some of the regulars most affected like Rob E and Terry G (and I'm sure there are others) have not yet weighed in on the matter. Would be considerate to see how important it is to them

Thanks, Diane usually helps me out with the car, over the years she has also ran to get lunch, work corners, grab misc supplies and help pick up the course (especially B'ville) and generally tried to help out here and there. since she is/was a part time instructor at SPC she was also a big advocate for us there. Whatever you guys want to do is OK, but I'm not sure that limiting spectators is a good idea, although, I understand at B'ville you may not have a choice. Spending 35 bucks to have someone stand around doesn't seem like much of a deal to me.

Okay, let me put this to rest.

Steve and I took all of the input and we discussed, and what we're going to do is this:

SPC EVENTS:
75 driver limit, pre-reg only (just like we've been doing just with a few more drivers)

BROOKSVILLE EVENTS:
70 driver limit, 5 "guest" limit. Guests MUST register separately so that we can more easily track them. (the way we've been doing it, it's hard for us to see how many guests there are, and impossible for YOU to see how many guests there are) I'll be setting up B'ville events with a new "class" for guests to register in (at $5). Before registering, guests must check the registration list, and they can only register if there are less than 5 guests already registered. Entries are time-stamped, and if anyone tries to pull a fast one by registering as a guest after there are already 5, they've just donated $5 to FAST and their registration will be cancelled. All of this will be spelled out in the MAE registration system. It's not perfect, but it's the best we can do with what we have to work with.
