Re: May 12 - SPC
I'm planning on getting my beauty sleep 2 days for the event. I'll take a penalty in attractiveness in order to be on time for setting up timing gear. As a bonus, I'll even change my wheels and clean out the car the night before so that even when I wake up on time, I won't spend 45 minutes prepping the car! Awe crap, that'll cut into more of my beauty sleep... Oh well, I'll just have to be fast AND ugly. Any of you experienced guys have any tips?
... oh and... remember... Imdabes.

Yeah I have a tip: the lug nuts go on after the wheel. Righty-tighty.

There are a few exceptions. Mid 1940s through mid 1960s Plymouth & Dodge for example had Righty-loosey on the drivers side.Native wrote: Righty-tighty.

Re: May 12 - SPC
Sorry kids, I'm double booked, it's my anniversary and I'm supposed to be wrenching on the continental car at Homestead that weekend. Fortunately Diane is very forgiving but I'm sure it will cost me.

Okay, kids--
We've got an autocross in the works.
Somebody's going to have to go back and get a trunk load of marble dust. 2-3 bags will do it.
Volunteers?

Dumb question: is it really necessary? We do fine at Brookesville without it... And if I recall, we didn't have much of it at SPC last time. Just asking.garage west wrote:Okay, kids--

Re: May 12 - SPC
I believe it just makes the course definition easier as SPC tends to have cross overs and B-ville is usually up one side and down the other with the occasional cross over.
At least that's how my simple mind looks at it. But then again I ignore course boundaries and explore grassy fields and where ever else my faithful steed chooses to take me when I push it too hard...

Re: May 12 - SPC
It really depends on how the course is designed, but as Matt said, courses at SPC are usually more complex than at Brooksville. We also tend to get a lot more first-timers at SPC. The combination of those two things make a chalk line very helpful.Gerry wrote:Dumb question: is it really necessary? We do fine at Brookesville without it... And if I recall, we didn't have much of it at SPC last time. Just asking.
We did without chalk at the last SPC event by adding a few extra pointers here and there, and it wasn't too bad. It can be done. Chalk just lets you do it with fewer cones and more clarity.
As a course designer, I sometimes also use it as another way to mess with people.
"The cones define the course."

Racing against my NEON is like getting in a fight with a girl, if you win you, you can't brag about it, and if you lose, you hope nobody finds out!

Entry count is at 70. Entry limit is 75.
If you know anybody who should be registered, but isn't... you might want to let them know.
