Thanks for another great event everyone, I think i can consider my new (used) GTI officially broken in. Wasn't sure what to expect out of it, but it performed reasonably well. Definitely need to upgrade tires and some suspension. Thanks to a small bit of advice from Loren I managed to get a respectable time, my current setup is not at all competitive in my class but, I've only had my new toy for a few weeks and I'm sure most of you know about the "build it to run it" phase.

DQ is the result of running in group 2 then leaving and ditching work assignment.

All events require the support of everyone participating to work also in order to run an event.
When a worker is missing, we are left short handed and we know who is missing.
Don't want to work, you won't run with us.

I'm really glad to hear all the positive feedback about this event (and others). This is a great organization and when everyone teams up and does their part we all win! Big thank-you's to the chairs, Ed (and John) for towing the trailer, Rick for another winner of a lunch, Greg for the excellent pix, and everyone else who helped and worked and put it all together. I know I had a great time, and feel I drove fairly well for a change. I'm still rusty, but (knock wood) won't miss any events for a while now (read: he who laughs last... yeah, I'm talking to you, John but congrats on your sticker-finish. Well done! ).

As for Rene Meyer, we have his name, and should he choose to enter another event, he'll undoubtedly be in the first work group. Further, a suggestion was made to me that during the drivers' meeting, we read name by name the folks who work in the last group, have them raise their hands so we know they know, and so we all know who they are, and so we hopefully will have less of a problem with that third work group. sheesh, what a shame it's come to that...

Just letting you know about a bug in the software, maybe I am wrong? I assumed you checked the event data?

I know Loren didn't hit a cone on his last run because I was watching that run. We talked about driving a differently line on that last run, and he ended up running a faster time and beating Ron.

Anyhow, great event by Ron and John and everyone else who pitched in.

I agree that we have been having problems getting the last run group workers out in a timely manor lately. Whatever it is: people are tired, forgot, or are talking and working on their car, etc. It needs to be addressed.

If you think about it, our last worker group change is the only straight-up worker change that we do. The initial workers go out after the driver's meeting. The second group goes out after lunch. The third group has to go park their cars, walk back, grab some water, take a pee, whatever.

We shouldn't have huge expectations of that happening super-fast. We SHOULD have the expectation that people scheduled to work not bail out on us. I'm curious as to how often that actually happens. I know people are a little sluggish in the afternoon... we all are. But, if we're only getting one or two newbs every now and again bailing out, is it really a "problem" that we need to put a lot of effort into worrying about?

Weeeeell...

Did Ron get on the horn before drivers started their last runs and remind those drivers to go park their cars immediately after their last run and GET READY TO WORK? Yes, it's a certain level of hand-holding. But, if you want people to get a worker change done quickly, you do have to prime them.

Everyone who was to work the last group was right there on the grid driving in the prior heat. If you want to reach out to that group... that's a good time to do it.

It's another "live and learn" event chairman thing, I guess. Sort of like learning to effectively delegate so that you're not overwhelmed like Ron was.

Chairing an event is a lot like driving. If you're not thinking and planning ahead, you get behind. But, it's all good. We still got all drivers through 6 runs and were done by 4pm, out of there by 5pm. Sure, we could have gotten out of there 20 minutes sooner if we really hustled... but, who really cares?

If my memory is right, I was showing someone how to add a off, re-run or add cones during the last run which was Loren, guess the program leaves a + after you edit it. No cones were called in for that run.

Perhaps if you put a "0" instead of "blank" for the number of cones it does that? I don't work timing enough any more to be familiar enough with the software to know.

I had a great time and it was a wonderful coarse!
