rim offset

Postby rx7sr20 » Sun Jul 22, 2012 3:51 pm

Anyone in the north pinellas south pasco county near US19 and sr54. That might have a set of beater rims that are 16 or 17 x 7 on 5x4.5(114.3) with a offset of +30. i could use to verify fitment or for sale . Before i buy a set.

Don't most mustangs have the same lug pattern and similar offset as the Gen 2 RX7? Craigslist is probably full of used 17's from mustangs. I'd suggest you double check that, as I only know because a friend who had an 89 RX7 got 15" mustang wheels, but no clue from what year mustang. Not sure if they all have the same bolt pattern and offset.

I have a set of 17x8, but not sure of the offset. Actually, Ford calls it backspacing. I could check and get back to you. I am in Palm Harbor if you wanna come check them out.

Yes it is the same bolt pattern as a mustang and a few other ford products.

Mazda specs for the rim is. ...the stock 15" RX-7 wheel is 6" wide with a 4-1/2" backspace or +40mm

Some facts i do know are a 275x50x15 or 275x60x15 will easily fit the rear using a 9" wide 6" backspace wheel. A 285 wide tire will fit w/ slight rolling of the rear lips and modification of the muffler shields for safety.
...with drag slicks, you can fit a 29x10" Mickey Thompson in the stock rear wheelwell.

Thanks for the offer when i get back in town ill send you a message. Currently my brother is duing some work on the car fixing alot of minor/major details for me. I would be more than happy to leave a deposit on one wheel or you could ride up . Those details can be worked out at a later date.
