Endurocross Aug 19

Postby Native » Sun Aug 19, 2012 6:38 pm

Well, I think the event could not have gone better. Those of you who got drenched for 10 minutes may disagree, as would also the 7 cones I hit :dunno: But other than that - smooth, smooth as silk.

The course was as good as the last enduro, which was most excellent. We had a great lunch and snacks (thanks, Doug!), and many people pitched in to help, including several folks who only came out to watch - now that's what autocross, and FAST, is all about! Thank you very much to all of you - I'd name names, but I don't want to miss anyone.

It was a really nice time. Can't wait to see the pix and vids y'all have... :)

For Sept, there's almost 10 cases of water and probably 5 cases of soda left - it looked to me like we'll need regular Coke and Pepsi, and maybe a few more diets? We also already have a bag of marble dust in the bottom of a helmet box.

Yep, it all worked out great! I love it when a plan comes together.

I'm still feelin' the Reggae beat.

Results soon come, mon!

Yep good times. Well-run event and a fun course!

Teardown and trailer packing was accomplished very quickly and efficiently-- most impressive!

I wondered how the Dub Reggae would go over, but it seemed like nobody minded-- I saw a few heads nodding and tails wagging, so I'd say it was well tolerated.

The sandwiches and chicken tenders were perfect! Italian ice, what can I say? Thanks for catering, Doug!

Looking forward to the start of the new championship season-- see ya in September!

Loved the Raggae!! The course was a blast and the event well run, as usual. We had a blast, Mary is getting a little too close for comfort :o

I haven't figured out how to upload the Track Addict videos just yet

Thanks to all!

Okay, Results are up.

And I just noticed that it's been quite a while since anyone uploaded any photos to the gallery on the website. Do it!

The results were impressive. Y'all done good as a whole! As stated during the pre-event trash talk phase, I really expected a lot more people to botch runs due to mistakes costing them many seconds, and me and my crappy car finishing ahead of them as a result. But, there was a LOT less of that going on than I expected, in spite of the course being marginally more difficult than the previous Enduro.

The mighty Fred still did okay at 271 seconds flat, and was an absolute blast to coax around the course. The difference between my two raw run times was only .6 seconds! The next closest in consistency were Albert Popalis at a little under a second, and Tod Byram at about 1.8 seconds.

Oh, now I'm not sure I'd be bragging too much about being .3 seconds per lap faster than a car that's riding on 175-width all-season tires, Doug. :P

But, credit where credit is due... You kept it together for 10 laps without making any significant mistakes. (even though you let your co-driver beat you by 5 seconds...) :salute:

And, how did I miss you on my "consistency list" above? Your two runs were within .9 seconds. Well done! :notworthy:

I'm nursing a too much sun/too much heat/too many fire ant bites post-event hangover, but it was worth it!

Thanks to the FAST powers who decided to add this fun event to the schedule. Best event of the year for me.

PS: did anyone hear me scream from inside the porta-potty? A large slimy frog jumped on my hand when I reached for the tp. (I know you're all thinking, thanks for sharing that)

All I found in there was a tiny baby frog. It was a zoo in there, eh?

Someone is quickly forgetting that Doug was one of the few unfortunates to have driven in the down pour which started part way through his first timed run. ;-)

I still am amazed by how you toss that miata around on those tiny tires... You almost lifted the right rear tire coming around by the flagging station.

Great event overall, thanks again Doug for letting me flog your car! :-D Howard it sucks about your motor, but I'm sure you'll have that beast up and running again soon!

I'm not sure who it was but someone went through the gate just before the Chicago box sideways in the rain ... without hitting a cone. Awesome! :thumbwink:
