October

Postby puncturina » Sun Sep 09, 2012 10:55 am

It's almost time to sign up for October! Since it's a two-day event, it would be good to know what is going on for those two days, especially if one might need to schedule a vacation day for one or the other day...

No, don't take this as an opportunity to tell me to chair the event so I can help in the planning process! :nope:

I let Steve and Loren know I would chair this event a few weeks ago. As far as what we will be doing, Sunday will be our standard points event and Saturday will be something different. Right now I am looking at a few ideas for Saturday. Idea one is to have another relaxed Gymkana type event similar to last year. The second idea is to have a 'bracket-cross' (run to establish a base time and then closest to their time wins kind of thing).

Go ahead and throw me some input on what you all think. (I know you all aren't shy with your opinions.) I'll probably ignore all your input and then do my own thing. I'll have the Saturday event type nailed down for everyone before registration opens this week.

Now that sounds interesting.

Or just do a two day autocross with only the direction changed from Sat to Sun so you don't do much cone moving? It seems like folks don't get all lathered up for "unusual" events. AND it would appear a lot of folks in normal FAST competitions can only do one day so they'll stick with the points event. If it were a 'real' full length 5 run course on Sat we might see more of a full house from outsiders? Or those that get locked out of the Sunday event cap might go?

Do whatever is easiest/fun for Ron Chair.

I won't be able to make this one. I'll take care of all the behind-the-scenes stuff I usually do. The bracket thing does sound cool...

Mirrorkhana Grudge Match edition. Name your opponent and do a "Pinks" style handicapping.
