So we want to get this event started ON TIME. The gates will close promptly at 9AM with the driver meeting started shortly afterwards. So if you want time to walk the course - BE EARLY.

Please take a moment to review the Safety Rules http://drivefast.org/event-info/safety-rules/ and the blurb on Car Numbers http://drivefast.org/event-info/car-numbers/.

And for heavens sake, review the course map here viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1400&start=40.

Most of all, you will have FUN -- damn it!

So, you're going to do the novice walk after the early driver's meeting, then?

(hint: not everyone reads the forum, and most don't read it daily... posting that you want everyone to be show up early 2 days before the event is not a good plan)

Relax. Accept that this is likely going to be a 4-run course. Being around 50-seconds long, most people won't mind that at all.

I think we can be ready for the novice walk by 9:00, the driver's meeting by 9:30 and first car on the course by 10:00. That is doable if:

We post a schedule (Ed - print a big one)
We get everything set-up on time
We set the expectation and create the sense of urgency. Be ready on time = we may get 5 runs. Lollygag around, we'll definitely only get 4 runs.
We stick to the checklist at the driver's meeting and don't ad lib on every point.
We stick to the schedule as much as we can within the bounds of safety and fun.

I'm going to do everything I can do to see that everybody gets 5 runs.

Well I printed out my entry stuff on one sheet two days ago and signed it so my registration will be 15 seconds and it won't take them 30 seconds to tech my Ford as all the unsafe parts fell off 10 years ago.

I wish you well getting that course assembled, approved and lined by 9am when Registration closes. I was happy when the driver's meeting occurred by 10am the last three times and I got there by 7am with a playbook.

Maybe some "Don't Worry Be Happy" tunes will speed things along? :thumbwink:

Whether we get 4 or 5 runs is not dependent upon starting 30 minutes early. We won't put our people out to work course for more than 90 minutes. That limits the length of each run group to 90 minutes.

90 minutes / 25 cars / 40 seconds (the expected release time for this course) = number of possible runs.

So, if you want to put people out for a full 90 minutes, and the course plays out as-expected, we can "probably" do 5 runs. But, you can't commit to that until you're sure that the start interval is no more than 40 seconds.

And 90-minute groups work just fine starting at 10:30.
10:30-12 Group 1
12-12:45 Lunch
1:00-2:30 Group 2
2:45-4:15 Group 3

And working the course for 90 minutes in the sun is pushing the limits of fun, even in this cooler weather.

Jim - if you can get first car out by 10:30, that will be impressive enough!

And I'm guessing that you or Ed are towing the trailer?

I will be dropping the trailer off tonight, ehh or whenever.

I have decided to take a more laid back approach to this whole co-chair thing. I just want to enjoy the day so...y'all can get there when you want, do what you please and we'll get started when it feels right. I just hope Jim decides to join me. It's the driving and fellowship that matters. :lust:

It's too late to change it on the registration, but if possible I would like to change my number to 27.

Pretty sure Ed has #27.

Get with Ron or Gerry in timing in the morning and sort it out.

Trailer is packed, timing equipment is loaded and the computer is set up and ready to go. See everyone in the morning.

Oh, Scott, I checked on 27 and that number has already been taken by a driver for this event. If there is another number you would like, just see me in the AM.
