Wow, I guess I should have stuck around for the nerve racking finish in s2. First time in the car and class...missed the win by .123...missed second by .037.

Congrats Rob!

My best excuse -- I ran in the first group and the track was cold and dusty.

I think I'm gonna like this class in the bimmer. Let the purple comments commence...

Fantastic course, great location, heck of an event! Had to head home as my wife was getting sick and I think I ended up sick with a mild heat stroke. Slept for almost 3 hours after finally eating lunch. Jus when I thought I was liking the tires, I think they really or me down. Just can't get the rear of the car to plant durning the higher speed transitions looks like it made for some fun video though

No disrespect to the top 10 guys, but it's scary to think what Drew could do with any of those cars that finished in the top 10. Drew is a natural ! :lust:

Um, Brian... Drew WAS driving the #3 car. Pretty solidly in the top 10, I'd say.

And Scott... turn earlier, turn less. Much less. 75% of your wheel movement is correction. I know you set FTD and all... but damn, you could be SO much faster. (and probably less tired)

Thanks to everyone for being so co-operative today. A nice blend of new and old people.

Jim Swain gave me the first "novice walk" I ever took since I really didn't get a chance to "learn the course" myself this time. Good job Jim, your advice kept me on course the first time and I was "golden" after that with sound advice.

I thought I saw Steve there but lately he's not been wearing a hat trying to impact some bald guys:) It doesn't work on "old bald guys". We only respond to dead presidents.

Loren is under pressure to advertise the July 7th event @ SPC but he will be re=hydrating for a week. Being a "split event" it really doesn't matter when he posts it as you will all fight only over the AM grouping again so you can be home in time for Oprah.

I donated the remaining food to the workers at TBD so we will forever be welcome back there.

Drew has new bushings. Imagine what he could have done with that new ST Focus. Not gonna happen now. Guess he could drive the 87 backwards to simulate FWD?

Bob T beat Jim S by .008 seconds. Good thing I told him he only had 45HP and 90FT/LB torque in 2nd gear before his last run. He ended up being fastest "S" car. :)

Ron Rice is having to relearn how to drive his "shopping cart" but this wasn't the course to do that on.

For those of you who had a bad day. This wasn't the course to learn about your "changes". This course was the hardest course to drive (think) we've had in a very very long time. I had a really good time with it irrelevant to my final position. Driving a sledge hammer has it's perks.

Supplies:
There are 7 cases of water left. Loads of drywall.
Approximately 8 - 12 packs of extremely various soda left.
Bunch of cookies, chips and red licorice left in trailer also from May. Donate to homeless please. They scare me.
The generator is full of gas still = 3 gallons which is enough for the next Airport event no problem.

The crappy ice melted again!! Get the good stuff next time.

The secret to a Publix lunch is to look them in the eye before you order the food. If they flinch, twitch or grimace don't get that item.

I didn't hear a single gripe all day. Loads of happy campers. No idea what else can be done with that site for a sequel? Greatness is hard to appreciate let alone exceed.

Maybe a drag shootout between an 89 and that 66 stang? S U N D A Y @ the dragway........ :salute:

Great course and location. Nice, only 25 minutes from home. The start was different than most events, I liked it. It reminded me of a Pro Solo start. And it was a "gotcha" for a lot of people who over drove the first turn into a wall of cones. Then came the decreasing radius turn followed by the high speed run between two walls of cones, loved that part.

Great course - easily my favorite so far and taught me quite a bit.
Great location - it felt like the five-star hotel of autocrosses. Being able to retreat inside for a bit when the heat got oppressive was a welcome luxury :)

We don't often do a "dragstrip start" like that because it's a little harder on equipment. A turn immediately after the start keeps most people from winding up and dumping the clutch because there's just no point to it. It's also a little bit of an equalizer for the lower powered cars, they don't lose as much right off the start.

In this case, I couldn't place the start lane where I wanted it AND put a turn in it because the required 75' on the outside of the turn was not available.

Will keep this start in the arsenal, but will most likely do something different next time.

I started the camera after your first run and let it roll. The battery pooped after my first run, but it wasn't fully charged.

I agree with everything you say. At Brookesville that kind of start may have broken some cars. But at the TBD site, with the amount of sand and low grip at least for the first run group, I don't think any damage was done.

Is it the homeless that scare you, or month old snacks?
Loren wrote: A turn immediately after the start keeps most people from winding up and dumping the clutch because there's just no point to it.
There really isn't ever a point to it. Maybe it allows a turbo car to get spooled up into boost. It also allows Scott to rain down gravel upon the unsuspecting. Anyone else--you're doing it wrong.

I remember a few years ago a guy named Ryan had a yellow 1st gen miata with fat tires and really stiff springs that regulary took FTD with a bone stock 90(?)HP motor.

Regarding the site--We should definitely snap up any summertime dates that they will allow us. The ice cold AC inside is a welcome addition.
I am pretty sure those towers aren't being used anymore, please ask them to remove them. :thumbwink:

Clearly not. But, imagine if you had Scott's tires!
