I didn't mean to sound discouraging, by all means bring it on out. I'd love to see it! 700 whp without power adders is mighty strong, that's not too far from NASCAR territory. What kind of RPM are you turning? I may be wrong, but I'm guessing this is an engine that needs some RPM to make serious power and it might not be quite so scary a lower RPM, maybe in second gear at 3-4000 rpm it won't be so crazy. Again, I'm just speculating, I have no exposure to such a beast.69chevy wrote:The 700hp is achevied without power adders (I used to have Nitrous hooked up not anymore) and yes it is at the wheels.lddavis91 wrote:LOL Ed.
My advice? Disconnect 4 spark plug wires and I only say that half jokingly. If you or your wife have a daily driver with dramatically less horsepower, start with that first. My car doesn't even have 500 hp and I've been doing this since '97 with "high powered" cars and still have a bit of trouble on occasion keeping the back end behind me and I've never driven anything with 700hp. Loren gives good advice, the most important thing in that car will be an ability for smooth throttle modulation, both mechanically with the car, and mentally with right foot control. You will be fine autocrossing this beast as long as you can precisely control the power delivery and if you get it wrong, most likely the worst thing that will happen is a spin into some cones. You don't NEED to do anything to the car, but if only for the sake of tire wear, you might want to at least make sure you have some negative camber in the front and if after a few events you think your gonna like it (and you most likely will) you can do something to get 2 or so degrees of negative camber you can significantly improve the front tire wear and handling.
Is this 700hp achieved without power adders? Is that at the wheels or crank?
And really the other cars i have is 2013 terrain Denali a 2005 roush mustang which my brother ruined the tranny and a 69 GTO which i use for Drag so really the only car i can use is the Camaro unless you guys think a deanli would be a good car/SUV to do this in?. I was just looking for something to do in the Camaro instead of letting it sit and rot because i just finished restoring it.

Um... we do have a bit of a noise restriction at SPC. Straight through exhaust might not be acceptable. We've had to call a few people on that before... don't say I didn't warn you.

Whats the limit? Does it go by decibels or what they consider to loud?Loren wrote:Um... we do have a bit of a noise restriction at SPC. Straight through exhaust might not be acceptable. We've had to call a few people on that before... don't say I didn't warn you.

Re: Getting My Car Ready and what should I expect.
"They" being "We", yes... "too loud" is subjective, we don't own a meter.
Understand that one side of this site is a brick wall that does a great job of echoing sound. One of the other sides is a block away from an multi-story apartment building. Even if we set an arbitrary db limit, if SPC gets noise complaints, we will lose. The site is normally used for police training... police cars aren't loud, and their training vehicles have modified "quiet" sirens.
So, if you think your car might be "too loud", it probably is too loud and you should rectify that before coming out to compete at SPC.

Not trying to be an ass or nuttin' but this car is sounding more like a show/drag car than an corner burner. JM2C. Go ahead, prove me wrong.69chevy wrote:Max RPM is 11,000 lol. Stuffing your tail pipes with some steel wool can actually make a significant difference, I suggest you bring lots of steel wool.69chevy wrote:Whats the limit? BTW, nobody said anything to me, hopefully my car isn't too loud for SPC, I know its pretty loud but it does actually have both catalytic converters and mufflers.

700hp is pushing a lot of air. And Jebus! 11,000 rpm! I wouldn't trust steel wool to not get blown out. I would figure out a way to bolt a couple of mufflers on.
I'd be glad to drive it for you and hopefully help you keep it between the cones. I'm a giver like that.

Before my dad died, he said "Son, it's my dream that one day you will drive a 700hp 69 Camaro on an autocross course."
What are the chances!!!!
Please make my dad's dream come true. Thanks.
