new wheels
im ditching the 20s that came on my 350z finally! i hate these things so i am going with a set up of 18x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rear. the question is, what tire size should i go with to avoid rub but be still good with tire life, no goofy camber issues, and can still be a good tire for aggressive driving. i also need a size that isnt going to start at $170 a tire. that is the MAIN reason im ditching the 20s is i was getting 10k out of the rear tires and the price per tire was just stupid. BUT im new to this whole wheel tire set up thing here so any input is valued lol

Man, that is quite lame. That would make me want toDarksidemxer wrote:i was getting 10k out of the rear tires

I was going to suggest some Hankook RS3s, but they probably won't get more mileage than the stock tires.

Re: new wheels
Well, even at 18's you'll probably be in the $170-200 each range for quality autocross tires. I was happy to get out of the $300s per tire.

Re: new wheels
17" tires are much cheaper than 18" and a 17x9" rim really works the 245 or 255 tires well.
Assuming they fit over your brakes?
Check on a 350Z website or do as Eric suggested and call Tirerack for some wheel/tire combos.
A lot of wheels are cheaper than the tires anymore.

Re: new wheels
tire rack wasnt very helpful
and i am on the Z sites but alot of them run bigger wheels 20's and 19's *im not on my350z anymore, too busy lol* but i did call Mike at Advance Performance Tires in tampa....he really knows his stuff. i guess i will be going with a square set up on the Z with wider fronts. i believe he stated 255 front 265 rear
i also gotta go 18s cuz of the 14inch rotor going on soon. this wheel stuff is confusing lol i prefer building motors....much easier on the brain

Re: new wheels
I used to have a 350z. My autocross wheels were 17x8 with, I believe, a 35mm offset. I think I used to put 255 / 40 / 17 on it. They were priced right at such a "small" size.
This combo changed the gear ratio to faster acceleration, but less speed at the top of 2nd, but it suited me fine. That car drove beautifully.
The wheels were 5zigen FN01R-C. I don't know if they make them anymore.

Re: new wheels
I have a 350z with 18s, running 18x9 in front and 18x10 in back, 245F/275R. Pretty sure you want wider in back, not front. My Hankook V12s have been doing just fine, and I've had them for about 18 months, still in good shape! I actually had them installed at Advanced Performance, great shop!

Re: new wheels
I had to look up 275/35/18's; oh my gosh almost $300 each for Extreme Performance tires. But on 10 inch wide wheels all around, I bet you'd get some grip.aliciamarie wrote:I have a 350z with 18s, running 18x9 in front and 18x10 in back, 245F/275R.
