October 13th TBD post event

Postby snookwheel » Sun Oct 13, 2013 5:25 pm

GREAT time, got schooled by Mary...... I always did like fast women, thanks to all that made it happen. :thumbwink:

I would have liked to hang out to watch the afternoon sessions, but a new puppy and a Buc's game over ruled me.

Oh yea.... results? ;) hey, somebody had to post it...

Perty sure I heard someone say Mary got FTD but don't hold me to that yet. That would mean she "schooled" everyone :notworthy:

It was nice to get back with you guys again, it's been awhile, I know someone was looking out for me because they assigned me the "grid" so I wouldn't have to run around too much. Now, if my transmission would actually change gears........great to be back, I hope I didn't ruin the poor guy that rode with me.

Okay, I know we usually run a smooth event and have a lot of fun at most/all of our events. But, I have to say that this was by far the smoothest and most trouble-free event we've had in a long time... possibly ever. 100 cars 6 runs, AHEAD of schedule all day. I was impressed with how well things went, and I'm not easily impressed! Steve's course was fantastic!

The usual: Thanks to EVERYBODY for pulling together and making it happen.

A couple small gripes:
- Remember how we always say to not make a spectacle of yourself leaving our event or anywhere near our event? Yeah. We mean it! Seriously. Chill. We're watching... and so are other people. And if the wrong person sees you hot-dogging it on the street and associates you with us... we could lose an autocross site!
- If your work assignment is "teardown", that doesn't just mean stacking cones. It means you're there until the trailer is loaded and the lock is on the door. Sorry for any misunderstandings there... but it's not a 10-minute work assignment. (more like 20) The point of that assignment is that those of us who have been there since dawn, and whoever is towing the trailer, and a handful of generous volunteers shouldn't be stuck loading the trailer at the end of the day. We give a few people a pass on standing out on course so that they can be fresh to get things packed up.

But, OMG (y'all know how rarely I use that term) what a great event!

Parting shot: Never, Ever eat at Peggy O'Neil's Irish Pub. Cuban Breezes was closed, so we went over to Peggy's after the event. Waited over 90 minutes to be served cold and really bad food by an indifferent server. Eat somewhere else, y'all.

Push Harder - Drive as close to the limit of your tires as possible.
Suck Less - Drive something resembling a proper racing line.

After a mix-up with last month's event, today turned out to be my first event. As Jim warned, that was the most fun I've had with my clothes on! Thanks to Jim and Phil(? for your instruction. Sorry, adrenaline must have affected my memory at that point!) Great to meet you Dave, Dan, and Juan. And if you mean helping afflict me with the autocross bug - yup, you've ruined me, Rob. Thanks everyone! Hope to see you next month!

Definitely an awesome event! I really wish we could be at TBD more often (and the 3 mile drive only has a little to do with that). Really glad I finally managed to get my car working (ish), and with the new rubber it feels pretty fantastic out on the track, relatively speaking of course.

Thanks to everyone that keeps this club going!

This was Paris's and My first event with FAST. We were very impressed and look forward to many more events.

Sorry about my numbers being odd. I am cutting new numbers tonight and should be easier to read next time.

I have several hundred, 852 pictures to be exact from the Group 2 of the Late Session, if you'd like some pictures of your car shoot me a message and tell me what car, color and number you were and I will send them your way.

Welcome to FAST, Bruce (and Paris)!

Ben was lamenting the fact that nobody is ever shooting photos when his car is on course. If you got any shots of the blue Miata #1 or #10, I'm sure he'd be interested.

Hey guys,
It was my first event with FAST as well. I had a great time. Thanks to Jamie for riding in my car with me and giving me some great tips and advice. Definitely some things that he pointed out that I need to work on. I am looking forward to seeing everyone again in November down in St. Pete!
