Pictures !

As far as plans go, once I'm in tune with the current set up, I'd like to boost it, or if funds permit it possibly swap an ls3 into her.
Looking forward to meeting some of you in 2014.

oh, engine pics would be cool.
The Kappa platform is plenty of fun with an LS setup. There are some locals in my area with a ls2 and a ls7 ( or 9 ) supercharged. they are a ton of fun to drive. the supercharged ls is good for nothing but straight line speed, but the ls2 swapped Kappa Is a blast around corners. Thank you on the compliments for the hardtop. I'm hanging between just getting this one painted, or getting a couple style top for the car, and just selling this one.matkub wrote:buddy bodean wrote:ls3 into a solstice? has this been done before? unless you have some mad fab skills this may be a challenge. but, i am no expert. good luck.

Yes, it has been done before there is enough room (believe or not) but, i can't imagine run autoX with it!![]()
BTW, welcome Alex! I like to see your hard top up close (looking good!!!)

I once had a college girlfriend tell me the same thing....twistedwankel wrote:

The turbo model did not come out until 2009, so if anybody purchased the car before then ( started in 2006) they would be stuck, or did not want to go with a turbo from the factory. I favored the N/A over the Turbo because the N/A has less power ( yes i said that ). There are three reasons to me picking up an N/A solstice compared to the turbo model. 1st is simple over my course of living (23) the most powerful car i owned was a 2008 toyota FJ cruiser. Other then that My 1st rwd experience was with a 2003 ford mustang v6. I had school mates that had the luxury of getting a new 350z or a turbo swapped 240sx or even a supra form mom and dad. At 16 year old i was not permitted to get any of those cars because " i was not ready ". sure enough majority of them wrecked their cars, and ended up in the hospital. I Started with a little 126hp Toyota Corolla. yes laugh at me now, but to this day i have not had any accidents, and i thank god for this. I believe just buying a fast car is asking for trouble. There is a learning curve, some people may be able to jump into a 500 hp car and handle like a pro, but I'd rather not see how good i am when the rear brakes loose, or i loose traction in the rain. I'm building my way up. Secondly it's cost. I'm a 23 year old kid and he insurance companies own my ass. My rates are crazy already, but with a turbo model they would be worse. Also while the GXP is a faster car it has more issues later on then I'd like to deal with. 90% of turbo cars have been " modded" from the previous owner, and we know that only a hand full of them do it the right way. Last but not least displacement! Any V8 guy will tell you there is no replacement for displacement. Even the evo guys stroke the 4g to get 2.3 liters out of the 4g63. the 2.0 with its set up needs to run 21-25 psi ( crazy ) to hit 280 hp at the crank ! On the other side the le5 ( 2.4L ) only needs a low 8, and at 15psi looks well past the 360hp line. Also (not that many would know except the people who own this car). form 2006 to late 2007 GM put forged internals into the le5, making them just as capable if not more then the lnf counter part. I'm lucky enough to have one of the last 2007 build year cars from the Vermont factory. I'm not trying to be a hard ass, I'm saying that I'm a Noob, and i don't want to kill myself or anybody else in a car that i can't control. I have seen to many people die because they can't handle the car, and ended up doing the wrong thing at the wrong time. i understand that i will catch a lot of shit for not having a turbo car, but it's my car. I would pick it before a turbo model if i had the choice again.twistedwankel wrote:So what is that little "outhouse" half moon next to the Chief Pontiac logo?Alex wrote:

Ram Air?
So you'll know somewhere I have a photo of the bottom end blown on the ground and the burned ass of a stock 4 NA banger Soltice brand new that the guy boosted with a turbo. The second run his wife blew the block apart. Do people not know that they made a turbo Soltice? Never saw that couple again.
Just so you'll know what to expect. Be warned that 50% of our normal participants finish behind Shamu the 86 Mustang GT Whale Convertibe with 200HP and AOD on 140 rubber driven by a retiree every event. It's not so much what you bring to the gun fight but how fast you draw, aim and fire consistently.
Welcome to FAST.

i did not take it as an insult, sorry if it came across that way. I would do my best to ensure the car has a reliable ( as reliable as can be ) set up. I will hopefully be smart enough to not give in to temptation when it comes to simply turning up the boost without visiting a tuner. Even before then i have to upgrade my cooling system the radiators in this car are so damn small, and the water pump is prone to crapping out. I have been lucky at 70k miles, but its something that will happen sooner or later.twistedwankel wrote:The intent was simply to warn of mixing a factory high compression engine with "boost" and blowing it apart.
No intent to insult your car being NA and stock. I almost got beaten by a Yaris last weekend.
FAST plays well with others.
Welcome....again.
I might have been wrong, i could have sworn it said Vermont on the stickermatkub wrote:No one care what you drive but how you handle it. There is a lot to learn.
BTW I didn't know they build Sol in Vermont. Are you sure about that? Check your vin#
