Another Car Classing Question... This one is real though.

With the upcoming season approaching, we would like to attend every event. What we found at the one event we did was we classed our self into R1 because of the 100 treadwear R888's we have on the car. The difference in an R888 and a A6 like we all knoware night and day. So we've decided to get into a modified street tire class with a 140 Toyo R1R. The hancooks don't come in a 275/17...

However, I am not quite understanding the classings. Going off the list a 2000 Mustang should be M2. However, looking at the results from the Nov event, there are Mustangs in both M1 and M2. This leaves me confused...

So, I know I will be in Modified, I believe is should be M2. But not sure if we need to make the jump to M0.

The car is a 2000 Mustang,
Has complete bolt in suspension parts, k-member, a-arms, bump steer, coilovers, torqure arm, torsen diff, and bolt on engine parts such as headers, intake and cai. The front seat panels are in tact with a bolt in 4 point bar, but from behind the front seats back is all gutted to nothing and that is where I am not sure of it's fair classification...

The Mustangs in M1 are either big-engine swaps, added forced induction, or driver voluntarily up-classing for stronger competition.

Jeremy also car-hops a bit, so if he runs in M1, he's open to driving either an M1 or an M2 car.

Your problem mod is the stripped interior.

The rule is:
"A mostly-complete interior is required. Missing minor trim or a panel or two is acceptable, as is removal of the back seat."

Having EVERYTHING behind the front seats removed is probably a bit beyond that. Put some of those plastic bits back in, and you should be golden for M2. Otherwise, I'd say M0. The benefit of M0 is that you can pretty much do what you want as long as you stay on street tires and keep the car safe.

So looks like M0 it is.

Thank you for explaining the M1 vs M2. I was reading M1-3 as individual groups rather than progressive groups. So that I understand perfectly.

So an easy one to talk about would be a Non-Turbo'd RX7 with an LS swap. So in N/A form would be M2, with the LS would be M1 and throw a supercharger on it and it's now an M0.

Or the same above combination in either stock motor form or a stock LS swap but with a stripped interior would make it M0.

The mod classes are individual classes, but there is bumping for certain power-adders. And M0 is the "catch-all" for stuff that falls outside of the allowances.
