Re: Post Brooksville 1/4 Event
I posted a ton of pictures that Sarah took. Photobucket destroys the resolution, so you can email me if you want anything high-res. Sorry for all the pics of the purple bimmer...one of the perks of being engaged to the photographer.

Jesse do I see air under that front tire?
Car's pretty stiff chassis to do that trick.
Damn M3's. Suppose next you'll find some aluminum doors.
Thanks to fiancee for the pix. She doing the wedding shoot too?

Not the wedding, maybe the honeymoon!twistedwankel wrote:Jesse do I see air under that front tire?

Aluminum doors are uber (german accent) hard to find, and only came on Euro versions. Might be considered a body mod and move me out of the ever competitive S2 class. I really want coilovers, but it will likely wait til the season is over, so I can try and catch Loren...that is unless you catch both of us.
The grey8 was really tucking that rear suspension in some of those pics and it looks planted. I guess those shocks are doing their job!
That pic is pretty close to getting air...definitely got some tripod action in this one!

Ben,
It's not the price of bushings themselves... it's the PITA of doing them yourself or the $ to get someone to do it. Ask Kyle Sokol or myself how we know (most Kyle)...
This is just the rear (not pictured - Rear trailing arm bushings): about 17 year old bushings. I'm guessing all of these are original. Also, most ///M3 bushings were factory upgrades over standard 3-series. My guess is if yours are original, they are worse.

I've done a few in the front, but still have a few more to go. It does make a big difference.

I just need him to replace the engine mounts so that I can find 3rd gear without using my GPS.

That seems to be a problem in most BMWs. I know when ever I have to shift to 3rd in a hurry I am always concerned about it going into 5th instead, some unlucky few get first instead of third, causing piston to valve interference . BMW mounted the shifter to the body while the transmission and engine are on soft rubber mounts. So torque really changes where third gear might be found.Loren wrote:I just need him to replace the engine mounts so that I can find 3rd gear without using my GPS.

Re: Post Brooksville 1/4 Event
Yikes...caught red handed...
The Mini's owners were quite enthusiastic and the car handled quite well - hopefully they will return for another event.
GPS didn't help me find 3rd when I drove Ben's car. OEM engine mounts are cheap, even cheaper if you buy through Mazda's racing development program, assuming they are available there.
The course was challenging in a few spots and fun to drive, except for the beginning. But my choice of steed might have had something to do with it.

Re: Post Brooksville 1/4 Event
Talking about Ben's car, it's a Miata. The engine, trans and shifter all move as a unit. But, worn out engine mounts cause it to be in very much a different place depending on throttle application. Fortunately, the Miata engine is non-interference... but it's still not good to zing it to 9,000 rpm!jbrannon7 wrote:That seems to be a problem in most BMWs.Loren wrote:I just need him to replace the engine mounts so that I can find 3rd gear without using my GPS.

Guilty! Caught myself at the last second as I let the clutch out. I do have fresh tranny mounts...still can be an issuejbrannon7 wrote:That seems to be a problem in most BMWs. Doesn't Ben have his mounts and just hasn't installed them? Kinda like my injectors and megasquirt I'm too lazy/skeered to install?

Re: Post Brooksville 1/4 Event
Mounts are going in this weekend, I dunno if my poor rods can take too many more over-revs. I don't care if I have to pull the header off a 3rd time (or is it 4th). Look out S2, Loren and I are coming.
