Dec 6, 2014 - FAST Championship Event @ Brooksville

Postby Loren » Wed Nov 12, 2014 11:36 pm

Registration is open!

Last event of the year!

As a special "Christmas Bonus", for this event only we will be offering anyone who registers for one session the opportunity to sign up for the other session at the "partial credit" rate. That's a $20 discount, or a double autocross for a total of $50! Again, this is for the December event only. You know you want to! (remember, if you do both sessions, the EARLY session is the one that is scored, you'll be doing fun runs in the FN class in the afternoon)

This will be a split-format event. Sorry, we can't do a proper lunch for split Brooksville events. But, we'll have snacks for you to nibble on, along with the usual water and soft drinks to keep you hydrated.

Get registered!

Can I combine the "Christmas Bonus" with my last event credit from the school? So I would use it ( the previous credit ) for the early session and pay the "partial credit" pricing on the late event?

I had the privilege of running with Steve at some other club's event last weekend. With Freakin' Drew in M1 now... M2 is Steve's for the taking!

This would be the one Saturday in December that I am working, and too far to even try to make the afternoon session...

I did buy a lottery ticket on a whim... I wouldn't, however, leave the hospital in Lakeland hanging on Dec 6 win or no.

Freakin' frustrating not to be able to go and have 8-9+ runs; the more reps the better. The Endurocross fixed my penchant for DNF-ing; the possibility of ruining the whole run with a single misstep really kicked my fight or flight response into "fight" mode. Haven't gotten lost since.

Now... after viewing the video from your run at Chispa's wheel and my fastest for that day -

the good news is that on the outbound half, we were pretty much neck & neck, so I am not screwing up completely

the less than sterling news is that my problem is exactly where I have been telling myself I have to nail it, and that is the hairpin turnabout. What I wasn't expecting was just *how* much time I give up if I don't get it perfectly; try nearly 3 seconds. :leftpuke:
Ditto for the elbow turn inbound (the chevrons and other sweepy elements, no prob).

Now, I haven't looked at the other runs' turnabouts to try to find the least objectionable one for comparison. I don't think I can take another serving of pathetic driving pie just right now; that best be left for tomorrow and a fresh bag of Dove Promises, dark.

Soroya, if you see ONE element that you can gain 3 seconds on, your goal is clear! Make it happen! Dark Chocolate always helps.

For everyone else... here's the course map:

Looks like a fun course... on paper or screen :bouncy:

I can't wait  this will be my first autocross after attending the novice school. Looking forward to getting out there and trying to remember what I was taught :bangwall: .
My wife is also driving in the afternoon session for her first event ever. She will watch the morning session to get a better idea of what it's all about.

See you there.
Dan.

I'm afraid this is another "mess with the noobs" course. Sorry noobs. :chuckle:

That was a big hint, btw... look closely at this course and what will be the optimal line through it. Then, do your best to fight your instincts that are going to try to make you drive it differently.

I might have to bring out the "Noob Taxi" and do some instructional/fun runs. It's gonna be another great FAST event! 8-)
