Black Friday Autocross? (not this year)

Postby Loren » Sun Nov 16, 2014 3:01 am

So, I was wondering... if we did some sort of casual autocross on the day after Thanksgiving... would you attend?

We usually avoid holidays for events. But, with Thanksgiving being a 4-day weekend, and so many people looking to NOT go shopping these days... maybe it makes sense?

Too late to schedule anything for this year, but maybe next year?

Answer honestly. If your family time is sacred on the holidays, or you usually travel at Thanksgiving or whatever, don't say "maybe". But, if you think you'd actually attend such an event, I'd like to hear it.

I love the idea. I'd absolutely do that over the usual misery of black Friday...

No. I'm typically kicking it with family that came in from out of town, or I'm out of town with family. I've actually enjoyed the way FAST events avoided holidays, keeps the wife happy!

Probably. We don't go back home for Thanksgiving so I always do something recreational that day and FAST would be perfect.

This would be a non-points "Classic" event. But, due to being on a holiday, we might do something like allow staggered arrivals. Maybe send someone out to let people in the gate every 2 hours or something. That way you could come early if you wanted to, or late, or somewhere in the middle, or stay all day... whatever.

I would go Racing long before I'd go Shopping that's for sure.

The last two years we are obligated to spend time with FL family so no dice for me in the foreseeable future.

That Friday I normally eat hot turkey sandwiches and many leftover deserts, and watch college football while wearing very loose fitting sweat pants. Though I could change up my routine if their were something better to do. :headscratch:

Could potentially be done on "Black Saturday".

We typically avoid holidays for "serious" events. But, I've learned over the years that as long as you don't expect "everyone" to attend, you can have a pretty well attended event on or near holidays that you might expect an event to flop. We've done Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, and Easter just to name a few.

Autocross is serious business, and I'm down to file some TPS reports while eating at hungry harry's (multi-slacking ftw).

I'm also down for Easter, Christmas day, Lent, ect. I'm even down for a Yom Kippur-Cross, so I can atone for all the sucking I've done for the season.

Yeah, based on what I saw this year, I think Black Friday is out. Saturday or Sunday would work better.

And, since we've already got events scheduled for Nov 21 and Dec 5 of next year... I guess we're good!
