First!!!

Awesome fun today! Great course and humbled to see how others tore up the tarmac! Happy to see that I have lots of room for improvement!

Volume warning: wind noise at the beginning!

I had fun, great weather too ! If it wasn't for a massive brain fart on my last run, I might have been saying I had tons of fun.

Those two gates in the beginning were giving me trouble, there was just one cone I needed to worry about and I completely blew it on my last run. I was just figuring out how to drive the course fast, and I was looking ahead but I was thinking much farther ahead. :derp:

Do we need more drywall sticks ? The chalk we used today didn't hold up very well and was pretty light, it was hard to find the cone square on some of the cones that got hit a lot through the day.

I did it twice with two DNFs! I dont even know why I missed it, but the 2nd time I realized it right when I drove through it. I don't feel so embarrassed now that it gave others trouble haha.

Here was my best run, I need to mount the camera higher so the sun isnt as glaring, I'll probably buy another pvc pipe and add a spacer.

I think I left a lot of time even with cheap summitomos, and I need to be a lot smoother, speed and cones come up a LOT faster everythime I switch back to the GTI. Definitely overdriving still on some parts when I roll over the front tires...

Still not sure if my shifting and leaving in 3rd before the turn around cost me or not, instinct kicked in and just left it there vs riding the limiter in 3rd.

They give them away at Lowes, I can get them, but I probably won't be back out to a event until next month.

Unedited Pictures. I was playing with the camera settings a bit so definitely most of the images are slightly out of focus or I messed up the contrast :(

This is the most interesting picture I took. It always sad to see a car fail but glad everyone is ok.

This was my first autocross with the new shocks, I think I'll need another event or so before I can start actually finding the limit with them. I need to re-learn how to push the car.

I didn't check my tire pressure and I was running to high until the last run. I let about 4-5+psi out and It fixed the cars balance and made it feel like it did when I first installed the shocks yesterday. I feel if I had the tires right from the start I would have been able to get another half second quicker at least.

I have some drywall sticks in the garage, I just forgot to bring them. We're good for a while.

Results shortly. Then shower. Then maybe an event recap or something.

Great photo, Travis!

Wow, I was working course when that happened, thank god it didn't cause any problems, very lucky for sure. From the other pics it looks like the wheel just sheared off from the hub ?

So if the tire crossed the finish timing lights before the car, does that run count ? :headscratch: :)

The tire is on the wrong side of the cones, therefore I declare it off course!!!!!!!!!

I liked today's course and am slowly learning how to dial in my tire pressure. I was pretty happy with how the car was handling through both the fast and slow sections of the course.

Missing the afternoon session sucked ass though. I've gotten used to addicted to those afternoon fun runs to chase a few more 1/10th's of a second, official or not.

Midpack in M2 and overall 29th out of 72 cars, exceeded my expectations, time to figure out what to do tire wise, go with the same tire and have the occasional fun on the GTI or get something stickier (and pricier) but still decent tread life like a PSS or YOLO it out and get an RS3/ZII and daily it. I'll figure it out by the summer/spring

What size tires do you need? I have a spare set of 225/45/18 Continental DW tires I only used for 2,000 miles and 3 autocross events. $200.00 and they're all yours. They are definitely better than the sumitomos you have on there now.

My 1,3,4, and 5th runs. The car still "leans" a bit but it still feels much better. It longer just flops over :)

Jeremy,
You've come a long way in a short time. Awesome. Don't worry so much about the tire pressures until you get a 2nd place sticker and want a 1st. It is a mission.

Not sure how to feel about today. Fun course, perfect weather.

Kinda disappointed that my first run was my fastest. On runs 3, 4, and 5 I outbraked myself, twice in the same spot even... I know there was more speed to be had but I couldn't bring it together. Very frustrating.

Also frustrating that I was 6th fastest overall, 3rd fastest on street tires, and still only 2nd in class. @^%$^@#%@ S2000's!
