I am new here and trying to upload a avatar to my profile. Everything I try to upload is larger than 6kb. In fact I can't find anything smaller than 10kb and can not shrink the image I want to put up. Any way around this?

I'm having the same problem. I can't get an image under 8kb no matter how small I make it.

Try changing the color depth to something really low and change the JPG compression/quality settings.

Sometimes for an avatar-sized image, saving as a GIF yeilds a slightly smaller image.

If the image has a detailed, but irrelevant background, you can cover it with a solid color, that will reduce the amount of information in the picture and make the file smaller.

It can be done!

is there any way to allow it to be remotely hosted? I shrunk my image down to 80x40 and did the lowest quality, and I'm still at 6.7kb.

Email me your original image and I'll play with it.
