June 20 - TBD - Post Event

Postby jev61 » Sat Jun 20, 2015 5:01 pm

I get to post first again. :) That was an awesome course layout this morning, to darn bad I couldn't drive it cleanly. I hope Ron and Jason made good use of the opening I left them. I'll be stiffening the front sway bar again before the next event, I was too loose today.

Oh man, that had to be by far my favorite course at TBD that I've had the pleasure of running! Well great to be able to attack the cones again. Still can't believe I didn't clip a couple. I was trying to fly through the first little slalom. Thanks to the course workers busting ass, and of course the always fantastic lunch by Mayor Doug!

Another great event! I managed to barely stay infront of Alex and his new GT! Alex congrats, as I think that was your first event in the new ride and we were that close. I've got my work cut out...

Timing/Loren - what's up with the Civic in S3? That's an HS/S5 car, no?

What a good time! Thank you very much to everyone who helped out and made it happen - again!
The course was a nice challenge, in several ways, not the least of which was looking ahead and reading it correctly. If you didn't, well, it showed. And it showed if you did it right, too.

Jamie thanks for the codrive. I enjoyed your car, and finished 6th in M2 with a stock Miata. I'll take it! Once I wear out the "base" Rivals I have now, I'm fairly sure I'll give the S a try. And thank you to Tim, Doug, and Brian for the other rides.

See y'all again later in July - I won't make the 5th.

As much as I enjoy lounging around the house, I'm really disappointed I couldn't make it out today. Around mid-morning, I told the wife I was going to try to pull myself together and go. I got the tires unstacked and that was all I could manage.

"Sick" used to mean awesome.
Get well soon John.

To me this was the cleanest TBD's course ever. Every run faster than the next and ALL clean. Don't drive like an Ape.

It is what it is. Some UK guy finally got a clean run in his BRZ and got 4th on his last run. (No sticker.)
Jamie and I finished .059 seconds apart staying clean. Had it ended in 3 we would still not have gotten an S2 Trophy away from Loren BUT there were 17 angry competitors AND we both made Loren sweat:)

GO JOE 1st Place in Loren's car. Holy crap. Who's the "sleeper" now? NOT Joe. NOT the sleeper.

Rob did his usual excellent job nudging out Loren for the last trophy and pushing Joe to get 2nd.

Well now. Let's see where the yearly points end up now:)

Hope you all found the "groove" and had a great day. This was a day where you didn't want to play marbles.

Damn this was a fun day I don't care who you are. Even my wife enjoyed talking to you guys from the sidelines!!

Wonderful day at TBD!

We need more events at TBD.

Great course...except the start slalom was not in my comfort zone. The loops threw me for a loop too...hadn't done those in months. Yea!

We need more events at TBD.

Congrats to Tony and Eric...automatics rule! I will leave the 14 pieces of sod out next time-corner weighing is over blown...

We need more events at TBD.

Lunch was scrumptious!

Thanks for the effort on the event!

By the way, I'm missing one of my run times...believe it was a 39. something. Thanks. Just kidding - it was a 44 something...nevermind

Would have made him sweat harder if I'd driven like I coached the guy I lent my car to...who chopped 3/4 of a second off my best time. I need to follow my own instructions....

Shame on Steve for actually listening. He rode with me once and didn't learn crap. Oh but that means he beat me too by 3/4 second. Crap. Go Steve. Glad he didn't drive my car.

Hot day today, strangely enough working the course wasn't that bad and there was a light wind.

Here is my run for today, found areas I was late, and where i can improve.

Looks like a reclassing mistake. He was originally registered in an MR2 in M1. I think they had problems with the MR2 this morning, so he drove someone else's car. No idea how he ended up in S3. Ron? :headscratch:

I think some of the mystery DNF's could be from blowing the stop box. Not saying you did. But, I know it did happen, and I know some runs were called for it.

It seemed to be pretty common to miss the left kink after the "water hazard" -- if you weren't paying attention to the pointer cones, it was easy to just make a long arc into the next corner, and pass on the wrong side of the cone. I rode with one, and watched four others miss it during the afternoon.

And thanks for riding with me !

I was having a hard time setting up the last 360 before the finish. Steve said to drive faster into the entrance, and he was right. On my last run I drove hard into the 360 then braked hard entering, and I was able to unwind the throttle all the way of the the 360 to the end. :thumbwink:

I would like to know why I got a DNF on my last run. I know for damn sure I wasn't off course. It should have been a +1.
