We'd love to have them, but we get all the dates they're willing to give us.

I had fun, I just really hated leaving early. I really liked this course, it was excellent and a blast to drive. I have a bunch of pictures to go through but I hope I can get them posted up tomorrow.

I was about to toss my new tires under the bus and proclaim them as crap but my lack of pace was 100% my driving after reviewing the video. BUT I still don't like how they turned into ice skates on my last run.

Forgot to say what another great FAST event, the course flowed really well, even with 25 cars on the grid it was moving right along, really good course design !

After getting ice and water, and locking myself out of a running car, I was able to help out and "yell STOP" at a couple drivers that didn't stop in the Stop Box. I think every driver was stopping after they realized their mistake.

I'm so glad we had a dry day, and having the A/C bathrooms and a covered area is just so sweet, wish we could run at TBD more often.

I had a little issue getting ice and water during the last run group in the afternoon. I had 6 cases of water and 40lbs of ice in the trunk when i pulled into TBD. There was a senior gentleman is his "crown victora" that was "trapped" behind the colored flag rope, so I parked my car while running and got out and lifted the rope so he could pass through. He drove through and thanked me and when I got back to my car the doors were locked. I couldn't get in my car, and it is running with the A/C on and I'm stuck.

I walked to the trailer hoping to find a piece of wire or anything that might help me, no luck. I went inside the TBD lobby and asked the Sheriff for help, he said they don't carry lock out tools anymore. Then the Sheriff asked the security guy at TBD if he had a old coat hangar or a piece of wire, no luck. I'll have to say both of those guys were really friendly and helpful.

I walk back out to my running car and have AAA on the phone, the whole time I'm thinking, "if there was just someone out here with a old Nissan, I might be able to use their key to jimmy my lock open". I get back to my running car while I'm on the phone with AAA, and I shit you not, I see a S13 Nissan 240sx heading right for me pulling into the lot. I flagged that car down like a monkey on crack !

He stops, and while I'm still on the phone with AAA, I explain to him my dilemma that I'm locked out. He knew exactly my issue and jumped out of his car with his keys, and before I could turn around, he had my door open !! What a crazy, lucky, and great timing it was for him to show up. His name is Royce and he's run a few events with us before.

Okay, now this is where it gets really cool/strange; Ben says he ran into Royce a few weeks ago at a parts store and told him about the TBD event, Royce said he wouldn't have been to the event otherwise. I helped Ben and Steve fix their cars in Brooksville, last week, which was the last place Royce said he raced. The Rays won too, so it's been a great day !

Here is my run for today, found areas I was late, and where i can improve.

I honestly don't see a spot that you are late on anything. You're braking too early and too much. (EVERY turn - except 2) If you notice, you aren't pushing out to the outer edge of the turns. That just means you entered the turns too slow. It costs you tenths for braking too early, and tenths for taking the turn at lower mph. That said the whole circle/double turnaround before the finish looked really good. You cut a decent amount of distance on the entry and the car naturally pushed to the outside on tight rights.

You would literally pick up 1-2 full seconds by taking turns at the max speed allowable by your tires. You're driving a decent road course line, but your being way too conservative for autoX.

You have a new alignment and new tires that weren't scrubbed in. Just give them another event.

You're running a good line, and it's hard to tell because I wasn't in you car, but it seems you're "stabbing" your throttle a lot. You got through the beginning slalom very well, but when you exited the slalom and exited the hard right afterwards towards the first big "sweeper" you were on and off the throttle a lot. I think if regulate your throttle input, your car will be more stable, and you could probably drive right through both of the turnarounds.

Jamie is correct, I certainly saw one of you fly around the apex cone right after the water puddle causing an off course.

Another awesome FAST event. I believe that was my favorite course ever, although I didn't drive very well. Still not looking far enough ahead, I think. And, that course particularly punished that in a couple of areas. Here's my video, thanks for the great time. Any thoughts about my driving or coaching points appreciated.

Dang. I got straight up beat. Kurtis and Ron were kicking ass. I was having trouble with the launch/slalom combo for some reason. I should have wound out 1st but for some reason I kept short shifting. And I never did get a clean run through the big loop.

Bah!

Points are tightening up at the top of M2! Just a few points separating the top 3 with one event left!

That first slalom really kicked my ass all day, never got through there clean and was probably short shifting though there as well. Oh well, I guess my brain decided to take a day off.

I guess I got really lucky with the first slalom. It seemed the timing with me was just so that when it was time to lift for the left turn at the 3rd cone it was also the time I was shifting into second. So when I lifted and stepped on the clutch I had weight transfer to the front allowing me to turn in, then I hit second causing a slight rear kick that lined me up for the short straight wide open. I was telling a couple people that that segment was faster than people thought and not to short shift and it felt wide open to me but I think that is because of my shift spot. The rest of the course was looking ahead, 2 or 3 cones ahead, seeing the wet spot coming, missing it and not being surprised by that little pinch in the left oval. If you set up the green cone slalom, again by looking way ahead, it was fast enough that I was riding on the left rear bump stop going around the first cone. Way more grip there than I recall from previous events. Maybe from all the rain we have had or maybe from the great job the volunteers did blowing the sand away, or maybe because Brooksville has lost all its grip. I ran first in the first run group and did not feel a lack of grip.

Most fun course of the year for me. I was truly surprised how well I did.

I feel your pain, I got beat by myself. I had the raw time to win M2 but between the car being wider than what I'm used to and turning in quicker than I'm used to I kept barely tapping inside cones and never did get a clean run. It's somewhat demoralizing to have the fastest time behind 2 400+ whp corvettes and a $100k Porsche GT3 and ending up 20th overall. All in all I felt good about my driving though, considering it was my first time autocrossing a RWD car. Throttle steering is so much fun!

As always, I want to thank FAST's organizers and many dedicated volunteers for a safe, fun event. Especially thankful that a majority of us survived the heat.
Great to back with you all, now that Joan is running again. Spent most of my time trying to figure out the new throttle response and forgot about all that practice I need with braking instead of just lifting (among other things). Lots to learn still...

I had a great time, as always! It was a simple, nice-flowing course. For the slalom at the start, I short shifted to second in the Mazdaspeed and found that being soft on the pedal in first gear worked well in the Viper. Speaking of which, I believe I have the (unofficial) Viper-FTD at 42.3xx. I would very much like to try a Viper again, what a hoot!

Got an email from Ron. He said the Honda in S3 was an error on his part, should be S5. That one will shift some results around a bit. He also said Trevor's last DNF was a +1, not that it matters at all.

Ron has the computer and will send me an update when he's done doing Fatherly things and gets around to it.

I'm sure I could watch that video a couple more times and nitpick it, but overall it looked very good! Looking and thinking ahead was definitely critical to getting around this course fast. And TBD requires you to be really comfortable with how much grip you have available. That's my personal problem, I don't trust the grip, so I leave just a little bit on the table.

My last 2 runs, I got suckered into those tricky fake apex cones. I think I was thinking about my tires to much and not about driving. Either way, Josh just set a blazing time in S4!

I was going to mention that I thought you were just plain overdriving the tires. You figured it out on your own.

You were essentially trying to drive them like they were RS3's on concrete. You simply didn't have that level of grip!
