I had a blast as always! I just need more negative camber, my poor tires. ;-)

Re: Endurocross 2015 Post Event
So, yeah. Another Endurocross in the books. A great time, as always. I think we actually made it through the day without breaking any cars this time! We did have to tow an S2000 out of the field, but I don't think there was any damage.
The weather was kind to us considering that the forecast Wednesday said the chance of rain was "100%" all day. We did have to stop for about 15 minutes due to lightning being too close during the last run group of the day.
At the end of it all, 49 drivers had completed two 3.5-minute runs each and we wrapped up about an hour later than scheduled. Not too shabby!
Thanks to everyone for coming out, doing your part to make this event happen, and in many cases doing much more than your part. You guys are great!
Oh, and why don't we do Enduro more than once per year? Look at prior years. 2014 = 37 entries. 2013 = 40 entries. 2012 = 28 entries. This is the first year that the event has actually sold out. It's a handful to organize and keep this event moving sufficiently to get all of these 3+ minute runs done in the allotted time. We love to put on a great event like this, but when you compare this to a regular FAST Classic... a Classic is a casual walk in the park to do! We've also learned that having too many "special events" takes away some of their "specialness". So, we limit ourselves to 2-3 special events per year. This one, of course, is our traditional August event because while it's a hassle to keep it moving, it allows us to only keep workers on course for around 45 minutes (in most cases) during a super-hot month, and everyone loves the format. We also normally do a school event each year, and sometimes a Duel or some other special event. That's enough "specialness" for one season!
Hey, don't forget to register for the FAST Awards Party!

Re: Endurocross 2015 Post Event
OMG....
Matt did not spin out.
Matt washed his car.
Enough about Matt.
I was merely watching all of you from 11:30am ON.
I studied you all. I sat in my chair in the shade of my umbrella and drank all the liquids I wanted AND enjoyed all the pizza I wanted from Mikonos II that Steve discovered years ago. Awesome.
Jeremy has a new contender for "alien". The day will come when I call them out.
If you haven't signed up for the "social" gathering the end of August please do. I think today was most enjoyable simply because people actually talked to me all afternoon!!! Social interaction is cool. I like "most" of you. You can tell I don't like you if I fart in your face. Which means you are about to kiss my butt. Like that will ever happen.
I missed driving this event as I haven't yet "bedded" my vette's brakes cause' the wife wouldn't let me when I used that word.
The RX8 is resting waiting for the recall on ds airbag that kills people by blowing their faces off. I like to autocross but old people don't like to see their facial bones. My wife got a permanent once and I thought she would be dead so I got an online date. Bad move.
The next FAST event you might enjoy Steve trying to co-drive my 15 year old Vette and hearing him say: "Holy crap....a Miata that never stops accelerating." Yes, I had to get the rotors turned after my last autocross....arrrrg. I don't even want to think about how fast the C6 Vettes are let alone the C7's. I read the new Z06's overheat....cool.
It's all about the FUN.

Doug I've read this 7 times and still can't rustle up enough intellect to decipher it. Decipher hell, still trying to ascertain if it is pat on the back or knee to the groin.twistedwankel wrote: Jeremy has a new contender for "alien". The day will come when I call them out.
I'll assume the best!
Today was my best finish ever, 2nd sticker of all time and in one of my new favorite events and definitely one of my favorite courses to boot. I think it is time to purchase a luggage strap and start experimenting with left foot braking after chickening out today.
Also got one of the nicest critiques of my life today when Les was kind enough to say I looked "aggressive" out there today rather than the more honest "you sure overdrove the hell out of your car, leaving time everywhere".
Last, I like my new alignment setup.

Pictures! As with all the pictures I post here, feel free to use them if you like them.

So this is why everyone loves these things. 4 laps of fun X2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GLLGcjU5Rg
On my last run my tires lost grip on lap 3. I had more than a few bobbles so I think I could have gone about a second faster overall but I'm finally happy with a time before and after I watched my videos
The return side of this course was nothing short of excellent. Simple and fun.
Thanks to everyone that helped plan and run the event!

Yep, I put on SPF30 and still got sunburned. Had a great time but suffered some brain fade on the last lap of my second run and threw away what would have been a good time.Loren wrote: The weather was kind to us considering that the forecast Wednesday said the chance of rain was "100%" all day. Re: Endurocross 2015 Post Event
I agree. I would love more than one Enduro a year, but also feel it would take something away from it. On the first day of summer I start looking forward to August... in Florida. It is totally nuts to put 'looking forward to August in Florida' into a sentence, unless you throw 'FAST Enduro AX' somewhere in there.Loren wrote: We've also learned that having too many "special events" takes away some of their "specialness". I was so friggin' excited to start my first run that I forgot to push the record button on the camera

You need a giant bubble level mounted on the headrest of the passenger seat - I was almost seasick watching the horizon pitch this way, that way, this way, that way...

Re: Endurocross 2015 Post Event
The more I look at that slalom, the more I think someone moved a cone after Steve and I did the final setup/safety walk of the course.
When we walked it, I believe the 3rd cone was a 2-3 feet further to the left. (or possibly the 4th cone a little to the right) That would have made entering the slalom to the right at least an "interesting decision" instead of it being a no-brainer to take it to the left. It would have given an advantage to taking the right entry that could have potentially balanced immediate entry advantage of going left.
