FAST Autocross School - Oct 17, 2015

Postby Loren » Fri Oct 16, 2015 11:09 pm

We never started a pre-event thread, but I wanted to be sure there was a post-event thread ready for when people get home tomorrow!

Stay tuned...

As expected, things are going great at the school! Every student showed up, as did every instructor and worker. Things go very smoothly when that happens.

Learning is still under way at this time. More later!

Real proud of the Beginer group!! Tons of improvement from all and some rising stars identified.... Brett in his awesome Mroadster Coupe took 6th fastest OVERALL in his first time on a course! Really enjoyed the day and the enthusiasm from all the students! :thumbwink:

Good fun...was a bit concerned about O dark 30 wake up for zero seat time at Brooksville, but I've always commented riding is nearly as much fun as driving. It sure was!

Had a hoot of a time...hopefully the school graduates agree!

Really appreciate the course workers...who didn't even get to ride in the 5.0 Mustang, S2000, REX Wagon, Z28...

Hope to see all at the next event!

Hey, you're right, it IS almost midnight!

Had a nice dinner with some of the volunteers before heading home. Then I started massaging the results into a digestible format. Check 'em out: http://drivefast.org/results/results-archive/

Overall average improvement was right about 4 seconds or 8.5%. Well done, everyone!

Obviously, we can't thank our instructors and workers enough. Awesome group of people, the are!

Fun day again! I wish I could have stayed all day still, a great way to end a week. I figure a lot of planning goes into this type of event, and it really shows when it's all executed nicely.

I wish it was safe ( for me and the camera ) to run cones and take pictures. So many great shots were missed.

Organizers and instructors,

Thank you for all of the hard work today! The instructors must just be getting their stomachs settled after moving from one car to the next and hanging on while giving instructions. It must seem like an all day roller coaster ride.
Tyler and I just reviewed what he learned today. He really appreciated the instructors in the beginners class. He had takeaways from each instructor and really enjoyed all of their input. It is really exciting to see his improvement of 4.6 seconds over his baseline run.

Thanks again to all who organized and worked the event.

I would like to reiterate the thanks to the organizers, instructors, and course workers. The event was very well organized and executed, something I think is the hallmark of FAST events. Tyler, Mark, Phillip, and I learned a ton. We're looking forward to being able to put it to practice at another FAST event soon. Mark and Phillip will be at the Open on 11/8, but I can't make it and Tyler is not sure yet.

We are having a blast at our first year of AutoX, and the laid back atmosphere and good organization of FAST events is a big part of that. Again, thank you.

I'll have to check, but I may have some GoPro footage I can share. I'll post something if there's anything worth looking at. Maybe I can find something that will make Jamie yell "Move your head!" at his computer. :snicker:

Maybe a bobble head on my dash so I'll remember to move my head while AutoXing?
