November 21 FAST Classic @ the Dog Track

Postby Loren » Fri Nov 13, 2015 11:23 am

Most of you probably already know that we've gained access to a new autocross site at Tampa Greyhound Track. We're giving it a go on November 21st, and registration has been open for a while. In fact, as of today, it's almost full!

This is a Classic event, which means fewer entries, more runs and no formal novice instruction. We do require all entrants to have competed in at least 3 prior autocross events so that they sort of know what they're doing.

If you're not registered yet, and you want to be, better get in on it now!

Register Here

Guest registration is not required unless said guests want to partake of lunch with us. We won't buy lunch for you if we don't know you're coming!

Opportunity KNOCKS.

Not at the top of your game?

Want needed seat time?

Opportunity to learn a new site.

Live close by.

Seriously I didn't think this event would still be open the day after it was announced.

But maybe you're faster than I am? You'll never know if you don't practice.

Go for the Gusto guys. They give stickers!! Your wife/girl friend will be impressed.

I too will be impressed but I won't be your girlfriend. Sorry. I have limits.

SCCA Brooksville on Nov 29th is CANCELLED - Points requirements adjusted

Due to scheduling conflicts, our final scheduled Brooksville event of the season on November 29th has been cancelled. In addition, the trophy rules will be amended to require a minimum of 9 events to qualify for class points trophy (including X-Class/PAX). The schedule will be updated soon to show the cancellation.

Fortunately, we haven't had a lack of participation problem at FAST events in quite some time. We must be doing something right. That, and we have a great group of competitors who just like to come out and have fun with us!

Cool. I wonder if any of them might want to offer me a ride? I'm good for some coaching, competition, and/or tire money. Anyone?

Reg'd.

Note, this is the former site of the historic Sulphur Springs Hotel and Arcade, a 1920s resort. Anybody know if the water tower (other side of the highway, I think) is visible from the lot?

I think this is what you are talking about, I got a picture of it when I tagged along for the site scouting.

There was an article a couple years ago that had some pictures of the inside. Can you say bird poop?

Eewww, I do not like courses with traffic islands. I have seen several cars wrecked on them in the past. But I see the pass thru is straight and soon after the start.

Yeah. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Autocross sites are just too hard to come by these days. We're being proactive and not just relying on one site (Brooksville) and hoping that it will always be available to us.

We're testing this one with a Classic event, so no first-timers. That helps. We'll be sure to address all of the potential issues of the course during the driver's meeting.

You called it, though. We're getting close to the one curb in a place where we're not going fast, and we're going dead straight. The other pass-through is wider and is about the same as the pass we make between the fences at Tampa Bay Downs. We'll be sure that it has a nice straight approach, as well.

This site is damned difficult to design a course for.

This is why we leave it in your capable hands. (and we know where to send the bill in the event of the unfortunate)
