Not sure what it was, I generally put turtles in 2 classes - snapping turtles and non-snapping turtles. I try to avoid picking up the former.

This is almost as important to the sport of autocross as a sizable collection of excuses.

Philip - thanks very much for sharing your truc...er... Miata! You drive the crap outta that thing (but you knew that), and congrats on your performance, and beating the snot out of me. :thumbwink: If you decide to put decent shocks on it, you'll be killing everyone. I won't excuse my driving, other than to say I know I left a ton of time at the sweeper right before the finish, and in the increasing slalom (forgot it was increasing on 3 runs...). Probably other places, too, but those for sure. Excellent course, one of my favorites in a while.

And, thanks for the pics! Excellent!

I won't forget to thank everyone else who pitched in and made the day great. From setup to cleanup, I saw much cooperation and teamwork, which is a wonderful thing. Keep it up!

See y'all in a couple of weeks. :)

Thanks for the great photos Philip.

Really enjoyed this course. The first segment tested patience and my front tires, 60% lockup LSD, but after the turn around I enjoyed feeling the rear tires dance around.

Took several people in the right seat and they seemed to enjoy it also.

Saturday - "Brillo" Ben (in Soroya's car with non slipping clutch) beats me in vette on a very long fast course by .1 second :bangwall: Mind you Tony and I are both running experimental new (for us) tires so are supposed to be way faster than instead of having a FIT. (Then Loren does it too...geezus...I don't think they were even lifting a wheel either?)

Sunday - "Dirty" Soroya (in only 3 runs) beats me in Rx8 by .05 seconds raw on a very very super fast course. :bangwall: Luckily for us in XS non German class she couldn't get that tune out of her head "bang bang I knocked it down"... :rolling:

It took me 4 runs to stop roll on roll off (barman sex) throttle of v8 torque driving from prior day and remember to stomp throttle jab pre apex and actually get a decent time. The ONLY two guys faster than us were The Mario (with brakes) and Terry EVO (with splitter) out of a class of 12 mostly pretty hot cars the only rule being "street tires" cage match.

**If I can remember how to drive the Rx8 properly I think these 1/2 price 340qutg Conti DW's are going to be pretty hard to beat once I wear them down to 6/32". I've driven on them 3 events/30 airport runs long and fast, 3500 miles and have only worn off a tad more than 1/32"...for 1/2 the price of "race tires".

Well, the new car isn't quite as fast as the old car, but man it's fun! Between the Konis, sway bars, and Fat Cat bump stops it's damn fun to drive!

The car held together and nothing fell off or blew up, so that was a victory too.

Looking forward to some good competition in S4 this year!

While I don't love getting my ace handed to me by similar performance cars, I don't have any excuse other than being simply out driven on this event. 49.6 was only good enough for 4th in m1, that subaru sti and driver/s were nuts. 46 second runs?? Geez

Really enjoyed the course though, time to work on suspension, a snappy rear end killed my times... wait, there go the excuses

Thanks for the pix, Carl. Nice shots! Even caught #41's passenger not keeping arms and legs inside the ride at all times!

16 yrs in Florida and I've still only seen pictures of them gophers... lots of holes in some pastures and galloping fields
but no actual critters.

Videos are up.

In order
Loren's 1 and 2 runs
Ben's 1 & 2 runs
My last run (you can tell by the swamp alligator stomp music...)

Loren's 1st run left him (and myself) somewhat unsatisfied so I had to let him take a second trip.

Please share. What brand and design type tire is that? Looks to have a lot of tread left. Not good.

A similar malfunction occurred with my Michelin Pilot SS fronts but they were down to the wear bars when the cords became exposed for 3" looking like a bad spot in the compound with melting? Maybe they didn't stir it enough to mix in the carbon?

They're Pilot Super Sports and are worn down to the bars. These tires are kinda old, were made around early 2012.
I noticed the sides have a little more tread left compared to the middle of the tire so not sure if my tire pressures were off or what. Also they have small chunks ripped off around the inner/middle side of the tire so I'm guessing these tires are just dried out.

Getting a new pair this week so maybe they'll help improve my time a small margin.

Matt made my car look so good... so proud!

His "2" was really ug-ly but I guess that met the timing booth's needs... really, I mean I'm not bitter or anything. Nor am I keeping a list or anything, really... nah, nothing.

EDIT: As always Philip, great photos!
Thank you for letting me help you scrub the tires in, and then in true gentlemanly fashion allowing me the final competitive run. Our fourth run times were very close, you just caught a cone somewhere, otherwise you had me. Next event we'll have to switch over to the speed so you can shame me in it.

I need to stop driving other people's cars that are sorted better than mine. I've been resisting the suspension bug since we bought the house, but it is so very tempting. [emoji53]
