My return to RWD wasn't as triumphant as I'd hoped. I got most of the elements right, but never on the same run. I noticed my clutch pedal was feeling weird halfway through my runs, and I even ground an upshift. Turns out my slave cylinder had given up the ghost when I tried to go home. Fortunately I had a spare back at the house and got it on before the angry looking clouds caught up to me.

As mentioned above, here are the pictures of the second run group. There are a lot of repeats since it was only a 12 car run group and multiple runs. I tried to get pictures of everyone from a few different angles, feel free to use them as you wish.

Awesome! That Exocet looks like a beast with the race tires!

Sorry to hear that. I keep a clutch slave ( and the tools ) in the truck at all times.

The 9th is the last event before I park the Miata and start codriving the Fastiva while Ben is gone. We can share if you'd like to.

Thanks for the offer Steve. I have my trusty vette still in reserve:) I shouldn't have any issues. Your M car is tempting tho' as a fun experience before you boost it.

Thanks for the offer. Vette is still 100% I was just hoping to grind the old tires off the RX8 and finish them and maybe get some new ones that stick?

So, if you didn't hear, I screwed up the results for this event. Specifically, I handed out stickers from the wrong sheet. Only the first 6 runs were supposed to count, but we also published a version with all 9 runs (so that those who took more than 6 could see their times). I mistakenly gave out awards from that sheet, and nobody called me on it until after I was done. Oops!

So, here's what was affected:

M0, M3, M4, S0, S1, S2, S3, S5 - No change

R1
Drew Scoda & Devon Amoroso switched. Devon 1st, Drew 2nd. (Devon only took 4 runs, and Drew didn't beat Devon's killer 3rd run until his 8th)

M1
Chris O'Haire & Mark Hackett switched. Mark 1st, Chris 2nd. (Chris put it down on run 7)

M2
Ron Rice & David Crawford switched. David 3rd, Ron 4th. (Ron was being Ron until runs 8 and 9)

S4
Dan Brentnall, Ben Wheaton & Tyler Sommer shuffled. Dan 2nd, Ben 3rd, Tyler 4th. (Tyler didn't pull ahead of them until run 8)

This was a Classic event, so no points to worry about. If anyone cares, see me at the next event to get your correct sticker!

edited my video and uploaded it to youtube

Had a near spin on my last run, and I'm still not sure if it was the transition over the crest that did it or if I hit the right rear bumpstop.

CURB WEIGHT 2293 lbs.

With 9 lbs/HP what could possibly go wrong? :thumbwink: At least it won't have turbo lag. My Vette only has 12.6 lbs/HP/TQ and I cannot use all that grunt on Street tires.

I just took the "on line" Old Codger Disorder (OCD):

OCD Test indicates unlikely there is a problem. I am looking into (RLD) Restless Limb Disorder also. Sometimes I think I have to go but I really need to stay.

It took me 7 straight hours to finally pass the Internet Addiction Test but I finally succeeded in getting 100%. Whew. Good ole internet.

Based on the videos I have seen it looks like this course was faster than it looked on the map. I figured it was an almost all 1st gear course.

It was a lot of first gear, but it had some fast parts.

I was having fun sliding around in the early runs. Let's just say I was cleaning the course for the later competitors. You're welcome.

When I left the house I was sure that it was going to be raining all day. It was pouring buckets at my place. I ran back inside and grabbed a poncho and some spare dry clothes. I drove 3/4 of the way to the dog track thinking how smart I was to leave on the all-season daily tires. Then just a ways north of the dog track the rain stopped. The streets were bone dry. What the...? Of course it stayed dry all day at the dog track. You're welcome.

Isn't it nice of me to make sure it doesn't rain and then clear the course of dust, grit and gravel? I like to go above and beyond.

I want to throw out a big thank you to everyone who attended this event. The classics are always a lot of fun and this one definitely fit that bill.

It was just about an all first gear course for me which was rare because it was my first time running an autocross with the s2000 that wasn't all second. My first/second grinds occasionally so that made it a little tricky. Hopefully a hydraulic flush will help, but I'm prepared for the worst.

Here is a video of my 9th run. As it turns out, it was my fastest of the day.

https://youtu.be/oQjZ-GdtxSM

This was an experiment using my cell phone to collect some video. It did an okay job, in my opinion. I'm sure it would be more stable with a better mount, but for me it's good enough.

Knowing how your car effectively gives you almost full-throttle at 1/4 travel... that's pretty impressive throttle-control, Ron!

Thanks Loren. I've been trying to smooth out my inputs a bit. I don't know that I'll ever overcome decades of wrestling the car into submission when driving, but I wouldn't mind being a bit more of a 'car whisperer' than I am now.
