FAST Open Autocross - June 4 - Tampa Bay Downs

Postby Loren » Wed May 11, 2016 1:16 am

Woohoo! Rolling into June with a FAST Open at Tampa Bay Downs!

We fully expect this event to sell out, and likely early. So, if you want to attend, please register early!

Still not convinced? This is one of the last two events of the 2016 FAST Championship! The competition is going to be brutal.

Registration and full event info is here:
http://msreg.com/FAST-Open-4Jun2016

Share that link wherever you can.

Basic event details:
  • This is a FAST Open autocross, that means that it is open to all licensed drivers.
  • Novices and first-timers are encouraged to enter!
  • Pre-registration is REQUIRED for all drivers AND GUESTS, and closes the Monday before the event.
  • Driver entry fee is $38.50, guest entry fee is $7.
  • Guests must be pre-registered and have proper ID or they cannot be permitted to enter.
  • This will be a split-format event. You can enter the Early session 8am-12pm or the Late Session 12pm-5pm, or both.
  • We WILL be serving lunch for all drivers and registerd guests!
  • Tampa Bay Downs is one of the few places we autocross that is family-friendly. They don't need to register, but they can hang out in "Racetrack Park" with a great view of the course.

This will round out my first year of autocross... right where it began.

Maybe I should get a commemorative roll of blue tape?

Take Philip shopping with you -- he needs new tires, too.

I'll be in Holland, at Bimmerfest 16 with Sam, so Philip gets a bye whether he has tires or not.

I could let Phillip use my old worn out tires after they've corded and he would still best me...

FAST Open Autocross - June 4 - Tampa Bay Downs

Finally got the Championship Points updated after the last event.

I always find it interesting the number of total drivers we have vs. the number who manage to compete in enough events (5) to qualify for an end-of-season award. I went ahead and greyed out all of the drivers who have less than 3 events... no chance of them qualifying. The drivers who already have their 5 events, I marked with green in the left column. There are more than a few who have 3 or 4 events and "could" come into play during the last 3 events. Some of them could even get awards... even first place!

So far, only 4 classes have their first-place award winner totally locked in with at least an 18-point lead over the rest of the class. And only one class has no eligible drivers. One class has an exact tie for first and second, and almost all classes have potential for award position changes over the next two events.

We opened up the potential for 4th place awards this year for any class that had more than 10 eligible drivers. Doesn't look like we'll see that this year. Could happen in M2 or S3 if enough of the 3-4 event folks show up at the final events.

Oh, and only 3 drivers have done 3+ events and been undefeated: Joe Vance, Ken Marion and Gerry Hernandez. I think all of them need to be dethroned, especially Joe... 8 consecutive events undefeated? (I blame the Mayor) This is my challenge to you all. Don't let me down. :whip:

Fun stuff. Are you registered for June 4th yet???

Hang on, let me add a decreasing slalom to the next course so you'll have another opportunity.

My car will be across the state. Is there anyone open to letting me co-driver. I could also drive different cars each run.

I think we could open up a run or two in the FASTiva. This is your last event as a FAST regular, right?
