Banana Vette is banned? Someone slipped on it's peel?
Yes, she is a naughty banana and disturbs the peace excessively. I could remedy this issue with by muffling her, but that would be very un-American of me and president Trump would be disappointed. That would be working against his efforts of "Making America Great Again", he would probably have me deported. :-(
On the other hand, encouraging site owners to invite us to leave due to noise complaints certainly doesn't make autocross in Tampa great, and has already gotten you deported. :dunno:

Since there's not a zillion competitors can we start 30 minutes later?

I'm not a morning person. Might get coffee shakes. Others are driving farther than me.

Les should get a muffler off one of those Military Helicopters that fly over our house legally and refuel at the airport.

Last I checked, forecast was for afternoon thunderstorms. Starting late is never a good idea this time of year.

I'm not a morning person, either... but, that's the reality.

For sure the concrete will be super clean and fast after all this rain. The practice runs will clean it even further. The 18" vegetation with no wind is keeping the sand off the runway BUT don't even think about going agricultural sideways. Will take a 4x4 with a winch to pull you out of the jungle. There were no places to put workers off the concrete either as it's grown right to the edges. Good thing the course is basic and smootherized allowing us to hit two cones if need be. Will be a fun day for all. The Zika virus and fire ants has put mosquito/bug repellant in my racing box.

BTW: Joe B. is very very good driving in the rain in a strange car out there. Personally I was pleased to beat an AMod for the first time in my life and have a roof.

**A good idea - I thought. If you set up in the wet and cannot chalk the cones simply double pointer cone all the lone object cones so the workers can relocate them quickly and accurately:) Stuff you learn from others.

An alternative to lunch at the airport? Get out of there extra early and eat way better. Or eat twice. No problem. Offer still stands.

You know you are all welcome to the Mayor's City of Dougop0lous? What's 30 people? Nothing. My wife is Greek. Ethnic Food capitol of the world. DOH. I'm from East Toledo. Ethnic Food capital of OH.

A celebration party for Joe Bad or The Mayor is in order. One of us is bound to win the Duel. Still stands whoever wins.

I live at 3035 Deltona Blvd. Spring Hill, FL 34606 AKA Dougopolous, FL Pop 2. Plenty of room to park.

Put that in your locator.

This is Spring Hill, Hernando County, land of the free parking on RW is open for everyone. Can park a zillion cars there. Just don't leave a wheel on the pavement. See?

I can deal with 20 cars on my front yard and driveway easy. My neighbor, who rents, will detail your car for $70-$100 as he's a greedy asshole "inhalation therapist". Believe it. They are everywhere. He drives a mustang GT with loud pipes and two Chevy pickups. He talks loud too.

Just let me know you want to come and swim in my cold ass pool with the silver sun reflector, eat steak, dogs, burgers, drink beer or soda, have a laugh and toast whoever wins the DUEL. Our pool is scientifically cooled. Changing room will be provided. Bring towel and suit. Chill out.

Did I mention I have two grills and my wife is a hospitable Greek from UK. I just want to have enough food is all.

Send me a text at 352-678-1958 or an email at twistedwankel@hotmail.com to confirm you want a "free" loser's evening. Be patient as the grill won't light until I get home. Nor will the pool open. What did the Mayor do for a living you ask? Our pool is cleaner than what you drink.

We are about 20 minutes from the airport. YES you can bring your guest.

Okay? Let us know.

The Mayor

Great offer, Doug! But, don't plan on us wrapping up too early. We're charging nearly $50 for an entry fee, we try to give people as much as we can for that. Unless it's strongly looking like afternoon rain, we'll do plenty of practice, enjoy our lunch, and compete our asses off in the afternoon, including the "bonus round" final "king of the duel" run-off between class champions.

Speaking of such, I just finished working up the seeded classes and run/work groups. We've got four classes, but they aren't really based on classes, they're based on "seed order", which is based on your overall finish position at recent FAST events. (or other events if that info wasn't available for you) I think it gave us a REALLY interesting set of classes that should be VERY competitive. As a bonus, without me even trying, it naturally split up every one of our co-drivers... that means NO stopwatch runs! (unless it comes to it in the final run-off)

OK, I have been thinking about this and just double checked the rules and did not see anything about it.

Usually, if you come up to an out of place cone or a corner worker that is not in a safe position you stop and get a re-run. What about the duel? How would that work? Just plow over it and hope you don't get called for it (the cone, not the corner worker :snicker: ). I will need to retrain my brain for the day if that's the case.

One more question. Any suggestions on where, or where not, I should look for a hotel Friday night? Not sure I want to drive from Orlando Sat morning. Thanks!

Microtel and Motel 6 near Weeki Wachi State park Rt50 and Rt19 area are normally pretty reasonable, clean with plenty of eateries nearby. Probably leave you with a 20-25 minute drive in the morning to airport. There are several name motels at I75 and Rt50 also if you'd prefer that area. Probably a 25 minute drive also. Might be a B&B in Brooksville? Don't go there much.

Generally, you're not going to stop for a downed cone at a Duel. As long as you can find the course, drive it! Revel in the fact that your opponent has cones, and stay clean.

With my worn out bald tires, I'll be done early in that group.
I will then stand around and point and laugh at everyone who gets beat by the FASTiva.

Now that you have actual steering leverage it will turn sorta easy without shoulder surgery? You ever weigh that thing? Bet you could almost do it with a bathroom scale by now on every corner. For sure in the rear.

All this trash-talk and shaming aside... I'm stoked, and we're READY!

Steve's got a handle on the refreshments and such. I just finished printing all of the little detail stuff.

So far, the weather is holding out. Looks like a beautiful morning up until around 2pm. Then the usual "scattered thunderstorms"... which could mean more beautiful weather... or could mean a little rain. The beauty of the Duel is that your competitor is always on exactly the same course!

Oh, and the shirts came in today. They look great! The handful of extras are available at $15 each.
