Schedule change / new event site

Postby Native » Mon Feb 25, 2008 8:49 pm

Ok, y'all - it's official. We're gonna try out a new site in Lakeland - Joker Marchant Stadium. 2301 Lakeland Hills Blvd.
http://www.lakelandgov.net/ParkRec/Faci" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... 0C0060.pdf

We will be cancelling our event on Saturday, April 5th at SPC, and will be at Lakeland on Sunday, the 6th instead.

The site was discussed previously in this thread - esp. the last two pages:
http://www.kickflop.net/autocrossbb/vie" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... sc&start=0

FWIW, for me in St. Pete, the Lakeland site was almost the exact same time and distance as Brooksville, and without the tolls.

We certainly hope the schedule change doesn't create a problem for folks - we ironed out details as promptly as we could. More info will be posted later as the event draws closer.

Looks like ~10 mins and 15 miles closer for me, I tried to google earth an image of the place but not having much luck?

What are the basics on lot size + surface?

Edit: I think this is it?

yep. that's it.

400x560. flat as a pancake. asphalt is in reasonably good condition. Few light poles we'll have to work around, but not a problem.

I did a ton of work at the US 98 and I-4 intersection/overpass, and Steve is correct, it's almost exactly a 1 hour drive from St. Pete and maybe a little less now that I-4 has been widened through there.

There's a ton of restaurants right there on 98 and I-4, so we shouldn't have a problem with lunch. :D

I am working on a site map template right now .... There is a arial photo that shows the actual parking spaces and lay out i want to try to keep the spaces on the template so that we have a kind of grid system to help lay out the course or future courses if we use the site again.

as of right now I may just redraw a scale map of the site similar tot he template for St Pete

At this time I believe I will be unavailable to tow the trailer to that event.

This is incentive to get the new (lighter!) trailer ready in the next month!

I think it is just lazy.

We are shooting to get this done before March is over, but I was under the impression someone already volunteered to tow the old beast if need be.

yeah, I made a very amateur one, similar to the one we have for SPC. I wasn't as ambitious as Scott, what with keeping parking lines on it for a grid...

Scott, I emailed that map to you - is it that bad??

I can't speak for Scott, but if anyone with better computer graphic skills than me (read: almost anyone) wants the satellite photo to fix up a map, have at it.

I have a Google earth image that fairly clearly shows the parking lines, as well as the 6 lightpoles. I can email it if anyone wants (can also forward the sitemap I made, if it can be "fixed...").

yep. Brian said he could do it for SPC, and Carl (Agent) suggested he could tow longer distances:

For those of you driving Hondas, Acuras, Chevys, Jeeps (yeh right), and I'm not sure what else they have now. There is a big multicar dealership right by the stadium if something breaks or you need some new mudflaps :D
Just an FYI.
Should be a neat site, I've never looked at the place as an autocross site, but now that I think about it, it should be be fun!

I can tow the new trailer to SPC, need to know the Ball size though.

Speaking of the new trailer, I'm trying to set up a list and measure day, I'll post more in the trailer thread.
