Uh, you realize that both Steve and I beat your best 200+ hp RX-8 time with the 63 hp FASTiva, right? And Ben was within 1/4 second. You might be overestimating how much those fat tires are "hurting" us. We haven't even dialed in the tire pressures yet. We'll "live with" them just fine!twistedwankel wrote:You have to live with your fat tires for 220 runs. Poor you. Lucky Soraya and Brian.
Soraya, as always, is gonna kick our ass anytime she decides to drive close to the potential of her car. Brian? He's going to have to show up first.
Now, Joe Vance... that's another story. Gonna have to start working my way into his head or something.

The "Push Harder, Suck Less" philosophy explained:
Push Harder - Drive as close to the limit of your tires as possible.
Suck Less - Drive something resembling a proper racing line.

Just remind him I was half of a second faster than he was. That usually works.Loren wrote:Now, Joe Vance... that's another story. Gonna have to start working my way into his head or something.
Racing... because golf only requires one ball.

Joe Vance left time on the second half of the course Saturday, you sir only ran a 35.5 on a clean course. I would expect a 34 from such an experienced autocrosser.BigBlue wrote:Just remind him I was half of a second faster than he was. That's why I don't race in "M". Too many variables there. I'll give you a whole second since you ran in the morning. Sadly I uncharacteristically coned my 36.8 away on the last re-run but still finished 2nd. You made me look....you only beat me by .009 seconds. FAT tires oink.Loren wrote:Uh, you realize that both Steve and I beat your best 200+ hp RX-8 time with the 63 hp FASTiva, right? And Ben was within 1/4 second. Jake and I have had a 1 second/lap discount for years. He waits down wind and I put up a number. He bests it by a whole second. I do too. Damn. I coned my last rerun = thought I had a shot? Some day I'll let him sit in the front row and take along a passenger!! OR I'll just stop farting my best runs away so he can't smell a bad run? Just like Ron letting Dave drive his car....DOH. Must have something to do with the 12 OPEN events? I plan on having the option of a trophy in two Classes. S2 and S1. Woohoo. 6 each is doable. See which one you finish higher in? I think I can earn a T shirt again.
Go FAST. Kudo's to David Lineberry running those "lame ass" Michelin SSP tires in S1 (compared to RE71?). Have to respect him for that. If I don't find a set of sticky tires by November I'll be running against him in S1 at airport on even worse tires rated bald at 240? Never know? Will be fun no matter what. Remember I and Tony ran SSP's in S0 last year and it was a lot of fun fighting for 2nd in S0 against Ken. Will be interesting to see what I can come up with in S1 now that the sandbox is history? No intention of messing with Eva and Doug - only burning up some old NOS tires.
At some point I might have Jake and that other "nice" Taxi guy in the BRZ who neither of whom have driven my RX8. That would be cool. To me at least.
Doug
Something to consider.. The surface at TBD really equalizes out tire choice.. The PSS tires hold their own there.. Probally won't do as well at brooksville.. But maybe RE71s are coming.. You never know until they show up.

Here is my best run:

And here is Jamie showing even in a car with variable rear toe and camber he is still smooth.

Also a run from Sophia, not sure which one.

But 0.175 slower.... I need to get on the gas earlier -- you're getting better exits.Carracer wrote:And here is Jamie showing even in a car with variable rear toe and camber he is still smooth.
Either her second or third, so a 42.9 or a 42.7. Keeps the engine on the boil pretty well, considering the transmission's fighting her. And see that child look ahead! (Good thing she's not in a Miata.)Also a run from Sophia, not sure which one.
