SCCA Class Changes - Rolling With Them

Postby Loren » Tue Nov 01, 2016 12:17 am

Steve and I have added a little policy statement to This Page on the website.

It simply says this:
NOTE: Our classes are based on SCCA “Street” category classes. SCCA does their rule revisions in January. The FAST competition season runs September through July. For this reason, we will not require a driver to change their class in January if SCCA makes a change that would place them in a different FAST class. Whatever class your car is eligible for at the beginning of the season (assuming you make no changes to the car), you may run through the end of the season.
SCCA is stirring the pot again. We'll look at it before the start of the next FAST season, and if we need to make any changes to the way WE do things, we'll figure it out. Meanwhile... just keep competing in the class that you started the season in. (unless you make changes to your car that require you to move up)

The "Push Harder, Suck Less" philosophy explained:
Push Harder - Drive as close to the limit of your tires as possible.
Suck Less - Drive something resembling a proper racing line.

Idunno. Not going to bother looking into it until sometime after January when all of the changes become official.

From what Doug Adams has said, while a LOT of changes are probably happening, because FAST classes consist of multiple SCCA classes combined, almost none of them have an effect on FAST classing.

Gerry your specific 2016 Miata car stays in CS for SCCA and is probably the top dog? But I'll buy it from you for $10k if you're nervous? The RX8 is staying in CS also:)
