FAST Open Autocross - Feb 11 @ Brooksville

Postby Loren » Fri Jan 20, 2017 12:35 am

Yep, we're back at Brooksville again. Registration closes Feb 6, but with all the new autocrossers we've been seeing lately, I wouldn't wait that long to get registered.

Registration & Event Info

I think this is the 6th of 11 points events for the 2017 Championship. Time to start getting serious or something.

Basic event details:
  • This is a FAST Open autocross, that means that it is open to all licensed drivers.
  • Novices and first-timers are encouraged to enter!
  • Pre-registration is REQUIRED for all Drivers AND Guests. We can't let you in the gate if you're not registered.
  • Driver entry fee is $39.00, guest entry fee is $7.50.
  • This will be a split-format event. You can enter the Early session 8am-12pm or the Late Session 12pm-5pm, or both.
  • Snacks and cold beverages will be provided for all registered drivers and guests.

Speaking of sweepers, I haven't posted the course map yet, have I?

(honestly, I just popped in to see if I remembered to start the event thread!)

Let's see if I can do that now...

Here, for your viewing pleasure, is the course map for February 11. Opted for something a little longer this time, which gives us a 7th course work position to fill. Y'all better make sure this event sells out so we have enough people!

I plan to be here, but I'm looking for a backup drive if the Festiva is still down (which seems pretty likely). Any offers? I can do either session and I'm totally open to instructing if you think I can teach you what not to do!

When the Fastiva goes down it's like making a 3 pin spare isn't it. Not a particularly hard shot. More of a nudge.

I see from your other post it's back and running due to due diligence. :thumbwink:

Just counting the squares it looks pretty damn fast! Woo!

Gotta remind myself to pay attention to the slalom spacing...looks tricky in some spots.

I had hoped that a couple of the S2 lurkers might have signed up for this event.

Not that there isn't a shitton of competition but missing a couple Twins and a 17 MX5.

I didn't replace my brake fluid, four spark plugs and the clutch just to mess with S4 did I?

Damned S4/ES.

I signed up for S2 in the afternoon, but I'm not much competition. I've only autocrossed three times and have old crappy tires :)

Ben you're welcome to co-drive with me in the afternoon.

Spark plugs? Why are you torturing the poor squirrel inside that rotary cage?

You don't want to come to S4...Jason, Philip, and I are all there together, and Keith Robertson is bringing his MINI to make sure we're not slacking. Go compete in something easier, like M2.

Randy, Jason, thank you very much. :notworthy:
I can't speak for Ben or Loren, and at risk of jinx, or bad Carma, but it looks like the Festiva will be in action. Even if not, I'm reg'd in the morning, and y'all are in the afternoon. So, make mine a raincheck, please!

Doh. Missed the cutoff before the slacker rate kicked in. Oh well, would have been real tight on timing anyways :)
