Endurocross 2017 @ Brooksville

Postby Loren » Wed Feb 01, 2017 12:25 pm

Endurocross Registration is Open!

Endurocross is one of the most fun autocross variants we know of, and it happens to be very "casual" because each car is on course for so long that everything seems to happen really slowly. (for everyone but the driver on course) We try to squeeze one in every year if we can.

An "Enduro" autocross is one where each run consists of multiple laps of a course that is designed to allow easy looping and to be relatively easy to drive. We usually do 4 or 5 lap runs for a run time of about 3-4 minutes. That's right... a whole event's worth of autocross in ONE run! Maybe that doesn't sound like much, but it's pretty intense and it WILL wear you out! This time, we'll be doing two runs on a variant of our "traditional" Enduro course. Here are the official Endurocross 2017 Rules.

The format of this event will be sort of a hybrid between our typical FAST Classic format (casual, limited entry, lunch included) and our typical FAST Open format (two sessions so that you don't have to be there all day). Be sure to read all of the details on the registration website!

• This is a FAST Special Event that is not suited to first-time autocrossers, which means that "some experience is required". If you've done at least one FAST event, you're welcome to attend, though we'd recommend a minimum of more like 3 events to get the most out of it.
• Registration is limited to 52 drivers. (26 drivers per session)
• The Endurocross is a unique autocross experience that can help you hone your skills by allowing you to immediately experience the same course several times so that you can identify mistakes and improve on the next lap. And, it's just plain fun!
• Lunch IS included for this event.
• In the interest of maximum run time, we'll start early, run late and NOT stop for anything once we're rolling. This means no Late Session course walk... if you want to walk the course, you need to be there BEFORE the Early Session driver's meeting!
• What are you waiting for? Get registered!

Well, crap. I missed that part. (Tonda and I signed signed up for the late session so we wouldn't need a hotel room or 4am wake-up in Lehigh) I'm glad we get two shots at it. If there's enough overlap, maybe someone from the morning session could take Tonda on one of their runs?

You could switch to early if you want. But, it really is a easy course. Just WATCH a few runs and you'll get it.

Here's the deal. It's over and over and don't hold your breathe. I learned over two+ years to breathe, shift into 3rd to keep the car from overheating (at some point). run out after the end to cool the brakes as much as it takes and and be consistent. WIN WIN. I don't know if I'll be able to make this event in S2 or S1 simply because my wife is older than me. Might have to drive her home?

The chauffer.

I'm in. Reg'd early.

So. If anyone in that early group may be interested in offering me up a co-drive, I'd be happy to throw in some tire/wear'n'tear cash, and (if wanted) would ride along to offer feedback. Anyone? 8-)

I just went to this site. IT IS both early and late- read the intro. Doubt it's for yearly points tho'. Interesting... so no excuse for not showing up? Other than work or a wedding? Or dizziness? Or a shitty car?

You've registered in two different cars, Andy. How you gonna pull that off?

Throw me in the bucket for a co-drive. The FASTiva is likely to not be back in running condition, and would be a hassle to get to/from the event since Steve has to leave early that day, anyway. I'll be bringing the S10 to move the trailer. Could drive it for a regular event, but I think it would overheat at the Enduro. It tends to run hot when pressed.

So, who wants the Professor to drive their car? I've only blown up one car this week.
