Thanks to all those who spent some time with timing. It was good to know you all could hold down the fort so I could run and catch a plane. I guess I missed a hell of a run by Ben. Way to go. See you all in a couple weeks.

My best clean run:

Just a 0.044 gap between Jamie and I. I'm curious what our laps looked like side-by-side.

Also, my speed wobble in the finish.

I actually made a comment about that to Jaime. his look slow and smooth, while your runs were spinning the rears and loose. would be very interesting to see what they look like side by side.

Season Points have been updated.

Lineberry was absent and still gained 9 points. :thumbwink:

Good course layout, I needed some of that slalom practice. Finally driving on some more competitive tires, went to Falken 615k+ from Pilot super sports. Car feels different, my rhythm is off. Turn in is different, the tire feedback (use to a nice chunk of squealing from pss when at the limits) is different, grip is different. I felt like I was running at the pace of my pilot super sports.

The sidewall stiffness is a lot better, but still need to be at 37 psi(hot) for my front left if I didn't want the tire to wear over the arrow sidewall indicator. Am getting a couple small things installed (some bushings and new ball joints) so a proper alignment will be done after. It'll be interesting the next couple of months just trying to get use to the tires. I'll probably want someone next event to drive the car so I can get an understanding/feeling of the tire limits.

My slowest non cone hitting run(felt like I had to hold back last run to get a clean run). I felt like I was driving the course and not attacking it.

Still flummoxed by slalom-intensive courses after a gazillion autocross runs and today didn't boost my ego AT ALL. The course had great flow, all the slaloms were friendly. I just couldn't make friends with them.
Ditto
I did better than last time we ran the course, but 'better' than 'sucking very badly' is still a disappointment.
Good people, great weather and racing cars equals a great day overall.

I was very worried that I would not like or do well on this course but I ended up loving it.

Apparently if you want to go to one of these "otter cross" things you have to sign up beforehand or something? :dunno:

Glad Philip spotted the fact that I wasn't on the list before I drove all the way up to Brooksville and wasn't allowed in, haha.

See everyone on the 23rd! (Yes, I'm sure I'm registered!)

What another fun day at the Autocross. Thanks again for putting on a fun event, even though the course really didn't set up for my TRUCK. The last section seem the tightest and it was offset quite a bit!! I think i still broke a few hearts by not coming in last. :pointlaugh:

On another note, I am getting a miata this week to start running and was hoping i could find someone to help me get into the Classic coming up at the dog track?

Thanks! Tonda is starting to pick up the pace. Her car-placement and steering-inputs are pretty good now, and she's started working on using a *little* more throtle, just a *little* sooner. I was happy to get some good practice with slaloms. Oh, and I really think that course was great for my car. (And other small nimble cars)

You know, I was talking to someone in the AM, and did say that this layout was perfect for you and Dat. It favored the well set up car and good driver. No place to catch up with horsepower. You are either good at slaloms or not. Good practice for those who aren't.
I don't feel like I left much out there. I think I got what the car would give me. Any faster and it just pushed more. Need Alignment.

Thanks for the great event again. This was my 3rd Autox and it just keeps getting better. Looking forward to May.
Here is a vid of my only run without hitting a cone. =)

I'm watching this video and all I can think is Late, Late, Late, Late, Late... Late, Late... etc.

If you're not sure what that means, read this:
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1838

From the very start, your inputs are late. You're turning too late, and thus EVERY time you turn, you're turning to MISS something. "Eek! A cone!" You want to turn early enough that as you pass each cone, you're thinking about the NEXT one and beyond. You're not just dodging the cone in front of you.

Extreme other end of the scale: Watch Mike's video. :sunny:

Well I did tap one cone in the afternoon fun runs, but I do believe some people can manage not to hit them and still be fast lol. Now if I could just find some foot control, I might actually put up a worthwhile time.
