Quick update: Its almost ready. Assembling the rest of the intake, filling with fluids, swapping some pins on the ECU, and connecting the hoses on the oil cooler (I had to modify it to fit how the exhaust runs under the car) and its good to go. Then I've gotta figure out what I want to do with the exhaust. Probably will end up starting it with an open downpipe.

Jeff (Treekiller) - the engine is out of the car and accessible if you want the injectors.

I brought it by the exhaust shoppe today, they just cut off the offending piece... I'm going by there in the morning to have something fabbed because... wait for it...

ITS ALIVE!

It fired right up on the first shot. Had some issues with the oil cooler lines leaking, but other than that, no worries. Gave it a quick drive up and down the street, clutch shudders a bit but I think that's because its new. Will change the oil this weekend and then I just am waiting on some ECU pins to arrive from Canadia so I can wire up the rest of the AVCS.

I feel like I'm whole once again. :D Video and pics tomorrow, since my sister took her camera with her. Maybe some in-car video tomorrow on my way to the exhaust shoppe so I can capture the in-car difference in sound.

Good luck with the 'new' engine! Enjoyed your build thread and looking forward to seeing it run! (or fly)

Now I've gotta figure out why its running wastegate spring pressure... grrrr. The vacuum lines look ok, the diagnostics for the solenoid check out, no CELs...

Other than that, it runs great. Pulls strong, transmission still feels good, clutch still has some shudder but that's diminishing every time I drive it.

As they say in Boston, "That's wicked awesome!!" :D So I guess we'll being seeing the new baby in a couple weeks?

If the clutch shudder is going away, it was most likely caused by a little dirt or grime on the clutch plate from the install. A couple of good launches will clean it right up. 8)

Its got 120 miles on it now, and its feeling better. We tried to clean as much junk off of it as we could, but I guess it didn't work as well as we had hoped. I'm waiting to 150 miles before I try any sort of moderately aggressive launches. Probably would be good to do it while the boost isn't at peak, though. ;)

I'll be out there with it at the next event, but I don't think it'll be broken in by then, so I likely won't be competing. Literature with the clutch says 750 miles! I'll probably drive Andrew's car this time (not Drew Scoda) and use it to instruct him.

For those who are paying attention to this thread, I'd like to announce that I'll be there with my car at this month's event, but I won't be driving it. :(

The clutch isn't broken in yet, in spite of my efforts to put on as many miles as I can. And I haven't finished the AVCS wiring, which I think is causing the ECU to go into limp mode, which means I can't tune it yet. Sigh.

The clutch is getting better every day, though. Driving to lunch today its like somebody flipped a switch and it suddenly didn't shudder as much anymore. And I can say for sure, even at this juncture, this engine wants to RUN. Get it above 4000 and it just keeps pulling, even though its only running wastegate spring pressure (~9psi). I haven't had it above 6k though. Rev limiter is set at 8000 from the factory.

That's cool, Kenny, that is, the good parts - like 8k. Nice.

Almost 500 miles on the clutch now, and its a world of difference. I'm still trying to get the ECU pins I need to get the rest of the wiring done. Got some new gauges that need to get sensors installed, and my replacement radiator showed up yesterday.

I found some guys who will send me some pins I need for the engine bay connector (awesome). I've been told that I can find the ECU pins on Civics, so I guess I need to take a trip to the scrap yard this week and see what I can find.

Are you building your own connector or what? Just soldering the wires to the pins to plug into the new hardness?

I have to add 4 pins to one of the ECU connectors and 4 pins to a connector in the engine bay. With wires, of course.
