With as much room as there is in that engine bay, I'd think that drivetrain would just pop right out of there easy-peasy.

Surprisingly, not a lot of extra width in there. Not sure how easy it would be to stuff in a 4-cylinder. :headscratch:

The battery is as large as the transaxle. Probably weighs more. Then there's the AC compressor and alternator and power steering pump and toilet ram air and ABS boost controller, etc.

Looks like a prime candidate for battery relocation. Relocate the battery and I'm pretty sure an LS would fit. ;-)

Parts are officially ordered. $595 for the engine (2017 w/ 20k miles), includes all but the coil packs. Total for that, plus front hubs/brakes, and rear brakes, delivered to my door = $915.

FWIW, there was a core charge on the engine. $100. So, we can still take it apart and look at it, but we have to put it back together to return it as a core.

Oh, and the car was a side impact right in the middle of the driver's door. So, everything under the hood should be pristine, along with the brakes and all. :thumbwink:

Delivery is slated for Wednesday or Friday next week. So, as long as we've got then engine out Saturday... the core will be ready for them to take.

So far, the plan is coming together.

I am having tires installed at Carl's Saturday at 830 and will be in the area and free if you need an extra hand.

I guess I could update this thread.

Engine came out without a fuss. All of the exhaust valves were bent.

Replacement engine is here, and prepped, ready to drop in. Flywheel has been shaved. New clutch kit. Everything is in order.

And we have an Engine Install "event" set for this Sunday: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=3392

All wrapped up. Everything went together as easily as it came apart, and the only part left unaccounted for was a single plastic push-pin. I can accept that.

And there is noticably more torque! Woohoo!
