FAST Open Autocross - April 7 - Brooksville

Postby Loren » Mon Mar 11, 2019 1:59 am

Well, this is it. The last FAST Autocross on the old Brooksville concrete. (If you didn't hear)

The Early Session is already sold out. Better jump on the Late Session soon if you're not already registered.

There may be some adjustments to the times for this event. We're going to try to run each session a little longer if we can. We'll keep you posted.

Edit 3/16/2019: We did! Read This Post for details.

Registration & Event Info

Basic event details:
  • This is a FAST Open autocross, that means that it is open to all licensed drivers.
  • Novices and first-timers are encouraged to enter!
  • Pre-registration is REQUIRED for all Drivers AND Guests. We can't let you in the gate if you're not registered.
  • Driver entry fee is $40, guest entry fee is $9.
  • This will be a split-format event. You can enter the Early session 8am-12pm or the Late Session 12:30pm-5pm, or both.
  • Snacks and cold beverages will be provided for all registered drivers and guests.

We expanded registration to 65 drivers per session. Early Session is sold out. There are two openings in the Late Session at this moment.

Gonna be a big party of an event!

Yep they're arresting everyone associated with that 7 year ACT + SAT scam now. My scholarship was for F1 racing which I never did either.

Making the Most of the Last

Rather than marking every paragraph of this post with big bold red text that says "Important", please just accept that it's all important... and READ IT! Thanks.

You may have heard that this event on April 7th will be our last on the ol' Brooksville airstrip. And that is true, but FAST is far from done, autocross in the Tampa area is not done... and, it's even very likely that we'll still autocross at the Brooksville airport, just not on the big runway that we're used to. Everything is in a state of flux right now, but things ARE happening, and not just at Brooksville. We'll share more details as they solidify, but keep the faith! And please continue to support our events wherever they might be while we figure things out. Help us maintain the momentum of FAST! (See what I did there?)

Being the last event at Brooksville as we know it, a LOT of people wanted to register for this event, we raised the entry limit accordingly, and it's already sold out anyway! (and we're adding just a few more entries) We want to be sure that everyone who wants to get into this event can (within reason), and we want the event to be special in as many ways as we can make it, so...

Look for the following important details on the Event Info Page:

EXTENDED SCHEDULE - We're gonna run to the sunset, plan accordingly.
- Both sessions will run late. Late Session will also START late. Check the schedule!
- Each session will have THREE run groups! Just 23 drivers per group, with the goal of 5-6 runs, it's gonna be epic!
- With a three-group format, you'll drive one, work one, and relax for one. Time to socialize, ride with other drivers, and make the most of the last.
- We'll be bringing in PIZZA during each of the 2nd run groups. We won't be taking a lunch break, but grab some as you can!

Now, we realize that changing up the schedule will be a problem for some people. Before you let your head explode, read on...

- Typical FAST Open event has single-session drivers on-site for about 4.5-5 hours. For this event it will be 6 hours. Not a huge difference, but we're bringing in the pizza, anyway!
- If you're dual-registered, it's gonna be a long, extremely fun, and long day. (but, you get to eat pizza TWICE!)
- If the change in schedule is a problem for you and you need to Leave Early, simply edit your registration and put a note on it that you need to leave early. We'll be sure you run and work in the first two run groups and you can leave before the third group. If you can't figure out how to make that edit, just email us and we will begrudgingly take care of it for you.
- If you need to switch sessions, do so ASAP. There are a very few openings in each session at this moment in time. Once they're gone, they're gone.
- If you simply need to cancel, you can do so yourself, just log into the system and do it. You haven't been billed for this event yet, so no harm, no foul if you cancel before registration closes.

We're sad to lose access to our favorite piece of concrete, but we're rather excited that losing it has LIT A FIRE under our butts to find some other places to hold events! Good things lie ahead.

That's a great way to send off the site Loren. Definitely looking forward to it. Was able to talk my wife into actually coming out to Brooksville for once since it will be the last one on this site. This should be fun [emoji16]
