2019 Dunnellon Championship!

Postby Loren » Tue Sep 18, 2018 2:40 pm

We've decided to make the Dunnellon events a little more interesting with an annual championship. This will be completely separate from our regular championship. Steve and I are still working out the details, but should have them together very soon.

We have 4 events at Marion County Airport in Dunnellon during the 2018-19 season:
October 6
February 23 (tentative)
April 20 (tentative)
June 15 (tentative)

Because attendance is much less than a FAST Open event, we'll be combing classes down to 4-5 classes for this series. We'll use the same points system as the main FAST Championship.

Stay tuned for more details... (and go register for the next Dunnellon event!)

Okay, here's what we're doing:

Because Dunnellon events are smaller, we're combining our classes into four groups, and adding a Pro PAX class. That gives us 5 classes to compete in, which should be good for 40-50 car events.

There are 4 events, so 3 are required to qualify, and the single lowest score will be dropped.

This info is included here:
http://drivefast.org/event-info/season-championship/

And when I get a minute, I'm going to add a page to the website explaining what PAX is.

These are the combined classes for Dunnellon:
Mod Group A – R1, M0, M1, M2
Mod Group B – M3, M4
Stock Group A – S0, S1, S2
Stock Group B – S3, S4, S5
Pro PAX – Indexed class for experienced drivers

Who should run Pro class? If you own a 1st or 2nd place season championship shirt, you should probably run in Pro. It's optional, though. You don't have to run there if you don't want to. And prior championship awards are NOT a requirement for the class. You can throw your hat into that ring if you want to. When you register, just select the Pro class, and then select your PAX class so that we get your index right.

Pro tip for the Pro class - Especially at Dunnellon, we don't have the same people finishing at the top of PAX every time. It's very likely that a driver that can finish reasonably high CONSISTENTLY will win it. You probably won't have to be first every time to win it. (though, of course, if you were, you would)

2019 Dunnellon Championship!

Update, just to be clear.

We had originally planned 4 events for the Dunnellon Championship. We added December 1st as the 2nd event when that event moved from Tampa Greyhound.

So, there are 5 events. October, December, February April and June.

Still 3 required to qualify, and lowest score dropped. :thumbwink:
