Setup and Teardown...
It seems to me the problem is that it's hard to find people willing to bake all day in the hot sun - especially during the summer months. When people do make it all day, they typically are dehydrated and toast by the end... so even if they've stayed, they're not at 100%. Why not pre-arrange who the breakdown crew will be ahead of time and ensure that the run groups are setup so that these individuals can show up to the event later in the day and participate in the last run group? I know this will necessitate a change in tech and the driver's meeting, but it's a viable solution to the problem. I figure most people have about 4 good hours in them... after that it's down hill.
