"End of Summer" 16 November Points Event

Postby jev61 » Sat Nov 16, 2019 6:43 pm

Summer has ended, did you notice. I decided not to pack my rain gear this morning, I might want to re-think that in the future. I really needed to look farther ahead on this course, only my last run felt like I knew where I wanted to go. Here is my fourth and best run, way off the pace from Kyle.

Here is my 31.435. I had an issue with looking ahead on the first run, missing the left turn, but having aaron with the 240z ride with me on my second run helped. Time to pull the dremel out and start trimming part of my dust shields, always seems to come back every so often and today it started making contact again :bangwall:

Seeing @aw614's video, it looks so clear now, but I struggled hard today. It was good to be out there again. Thanks everyone for a great event and big thanks to Benji for letting me flog his car. Didn't get to hang out and talk to everybody I wanted to, but I was cold and tired and ready to go.
Edit: Dang, I miss my NC. Such a magical little car.

I loved this course, very fun and fluid. Switching to G-Force Rivals from high end all-seasons is a HUGE change. I feel that I'm able to drive the car instead of fight it at every turn!

Here’s my best run, a 30.234. Really enjoyed this course design, definitely my favorite course to come out of Lakeland so far. Yesterday was probably one of my better performances in the car as I usually don’t do as well on the parking lot courses. Gave some rides to a few novices in the fun runs and wasn’t driving in super serious mode, but I couldn’t get close to my competition run so that was probably all I had for the car.

Adam and I swapped rides for the last fun run, that car is pretty comical  The 245 Rivals give you all the grip in the world, but the lack of any kind of damping kinda gives the car a mind of its own. Car just grips like crazy until it doesn’t. But, it should make for a great autocross car once it has a halfway decent suspension on it.

Even though it was chilly, the weather was great! Course was pretty fun, quick and felt like the different elements got to you pretty damn quick. That's a good looking run Kyle. Back at it again with the back to back 2nd in paxing  .

Another great event...thank you FAST. Also, thank you for the ride-alongs Chris, Dan, Andrew, and Alex. I agree with the above posts, this was a really well designed and fun course.

My favorite part was the sweeper and into the slalom and the dip near the end. Below is a GoPro of my fastest time...which my brother refers to as my "slow motion" autocross videos!

The videos are great - thanks for sharing them. And thanks to you all for helping make these events happen. :notworthy:

And thanks to Bill for the latest round of suspension tweaks on the wagon. The setup was just about perfect for the course and that, along with me being totally on my game (for a change), got me my best finish in a long, long time! Bill - you made that car way faster than it should be. :salute: Moar!

Thank you all who put this together. I had a blast!

wow Steve you sure demonstrated who's boss on team wagon! :awesome:

Rest assured more tweaking is on the horizon along the same themes as I’ve been pursuing. Thanks for being a good sport about ”continious improvement” lol.

I loved the course but my general sense was I didn't drive to the car’s potential. So, naturally me being me I over-drove it terribly in the afternoon. Still it was fun :)

31.172, 12th raw, 6th pax from the rear stiffened wagon, now that's a hard line of shame. Good job Steve in wrecking everyone! :thumbwink:. Sorry Dan M your FTD didn't hold from the afternoon  , but that was a really solid time you got.

Has FAST lost our "official" photographer? I haven't seen a photo post from the last two events. :dunno:

Philip wasn't at the last event. Not sure what his excuse is for the event before that. I've slept since then.
