Looks like the 240 is going to see paint Sunday, the shop is normally closed, but the owner wants to do it Sunday because he won’t be distracted by the phone and employees. Plus it’s supposed to be mid 70s and low humidity so he won’t have to run the booth heater long.

They have really done a awesome job on it so far, the spare tire well was just supposed to be touched up, but they decided to just paint it because one of guys didn’t know it was a touch up and primed the whole thing, so bonus !

Image

The bumpers are looking incredible, can’t believe that they once were so pitted and rough.

Image

I’m working on getting the rest of the small trim paint done, but got the wiper arms and cowl repainted and ready to go. I am really happy with the body so far, they fixed all those multiple nasty dings and dents, and have all the shut lines looking great.

Looking forward to seeing the finished car! You still going to beat it up at autocross or going to be selling it now that values are going up on them?

All is pretty good here, just busy with all the car projects. Posted that someone should check out FAST and then heard that it wasn't running anymore so came here to find more info :(

Good job! When my Miata was painted, the paint booth we rented was dirty. Dust falling from the ceiling really buggered up my paint job! Bubbles and dust nibs all over, it was a major paint to polish all of that stuff out.

The 240 has been painted, looks amazing, not gonna lie, I got a bit choked up when I saw it. 4 coats of base and 3 coats of clear, going to sit for a few days then wet sanding a buffing. Then it get reassembled hopefully by this weekend. Here’s a couple teaser pics before the big reveal  Figured I should show the hood considering it was a major fail on my part, all the sticky paint and cat hair is gone.

Thanks Tim ! I’m blown away by it, never seen it one solid shade of black with no faded skunk stripe on the roof and it’s shiny ! Almost feels like a different new car.

God, Im getting old, I had to Google "Hot Import Nights" :-D It might not be completely retired from autocross, I still have most of the performance suspension bits on it, it would just need tires to make it fun again.

Looks like I might be bringing it home Friday, the shop is going to put the bumpers on and install the rear emblems, also getting the lower body stripe in a dark charcoal gray. I will finish the rest of the reassembly at home. Probably going to take a couple hours just to get the interior cleaned up, I had to remove the upper weather strip retainer and it left a 2 inch gap between the window and roof, so its full of dust. At least I had the hindsight to remove the seats and door panels.

The wet sanding and buffing is finishing up today and it is getting reassembled tomorrow. I decided to clean up the original wheel covers so I don’t have to drive it home with bare ugly steelie wheels. 8-) They were a bit rough to say the least, everyone was coated in thick baked on brake dust and everyone one of them was curbed. I think they cleaned up pretty good with some cleaning, sanding and paint. They’re definitely part of my motto to “look good from 10 feet away”, they’re not perfect but good enough for this project.

Wait, what ? Is this the same Dave that had a white S2000 that looked tattered and beat only because he never washed it, and is now commenting that a old rotting fence needs to be cleaned ? :headscratch: :snicker:
