The BBQ lunch was excellent, and the course was open but still had places to screw yourself up. Deceptive! Many thanks to Dave for the awesome Cherry Coke and the always refreshing A&W Rootbeer. Made my day.

The car ran great all day and the Azenis stuck pretty good for not having been used since February. And for once, I don't have to worry about results!

Great fun! Interesting twist to the autocross formula...adds more excitement to an already serious adrenaline rush.

Loren (and company)...thanks for the work...I don't want to think of the efforts you folks put in to pulling this off smoothly.

Not sure about the comment about "open course" as my wide body required full lock on a couple of those corners...a blast nonetheless.

And who tech'd the S2000 with Kumhos (#52)...that car had a hidden nitrous system, I swear!

Oh, and the rest of the event was good, too. Thanks to my several co-chairman and EVERYONE else who pulled together to make this event happen.

Only one error I could find that we didn't correct on-site. That's in Class H/J where Aaron went to the final undefeated, and apparently was called out after one loss. As it is, Brian and Aaron both have one loss, so they should be called a tie for first. What should have happened was a run-off between them to eliminate one of them. I might have caught it had I been working the brackets at that time, but I wasn't, and I probably forgot to remind Dave and company about that requirement. Oh well, live and learn.

I finished 3rd in Class E with 10 cars... how did THAT happen??? I fully expected to finish 2nd to last today. Just goes to show the nature of this event. I really only "won" ONE of my SIX matches. The rest of my 3 wins came to me by my opponent DNFing, and in at least one case, I DNF'd with 3 cones but still won because my opponent went off course! Yes, indeed, there is a bit of luck involved in this format.

No biggie, I don't think anyone was taking today too seriously. Run enough of these and the "basics" become second nature to you. Every final match consists of one undefeated driver from the winner bracket, and one hard-fought recovery from the loser bracket. If the "winner" loses, he has to lose twice.

You did AMAZING in that thing. It's great to see cars that you wouldn't expect to do well, do well. The boat is a prime example of that. Hats off to some skill!

Great day!! Loren put out a great course that was very even on both sides. Groups ran pretty smooth, and everyone really pitched in for the whole day. It was nice to see that a lot of people stayed around to help re-set the course and load the trailer. Looking forward to when we can do this again. There's something about running head to head that makes it a lot more fun.

The only thing I think we need to address with a future Battle X, is that we need to make sure the drivers know if they're running a BYE or a head to head run. There seemed to be some confusion with some drivers because they thought they may have lost a run, and thought they were eliminated on their second loss. only to find out later that they ran a BYE.

Damn, Brian, you're right... now that I think of it, I put untrained, untested and frickin' BLIND Bill Flowers in charge of the brackets for the final rounds. I screwed the pooch on that one.

Our "communication problem" with people knowing what was going on was largely due to not being allowed to use the PA at SPC. If I'd had a PA, each match would have been announced for what it was and everyone would have known "the score" so to speak.

Maybe we should to the next one at Lakeland?

That was a great time! I lost out pretty quick, but still got 6 runs in. Very well designed course, well coordinated on site - smooooth. Thanks to everyone who had a hand in it!

The only one I have to blame is myself for not making it further in the grid. It's an amazing system, because if you blow two runs at the wrong time: poof yer done! It rewards those who peak late. And it's very chancy, I had VERY capable drivers blow their runs against me. And my ego almost caught me early, when I was "driving Miss Daisy" and almost lost! Yikes!

It was soo much fun tho. And a welcome change to your typical event.

That's why I said *I* screwed the pooch, not "Bill screwed the pooch". I shouldn't have put you in that position. Only reason I did was that you happened to be there talking about your knee bugging you as I was looking for Ron to do the job I roped you into. My brain was pretty fried by the end of the day (as if it wasn't as the beginning of the day) and I didn't think it through.
