Loren wrote:...but maybe I do need to remind everyone that both our insurance AND the powers that be at Brooksville DO impose a "speed limit" on our courses. They CAN, in fact, be too fast. Anything much over 60 mph is definitely too fast.
Loren speaks the truth: Our agreement with the airport really does limit speed to 60mph. And we do need to honor the agreement. 8)

Man, you guys just don't get it.

We have rules. Rules that WE didn't make. Rules the WE have to abide by. Our insurance company clearly states that speeds shall not exceed 70 mph for "the fastest cars". The Brooksville management has stated that NO car shall exceed 60 mph. Neither of them used any sort of language that is open to interpretation, they were quite clear.

In any case, if you should "happen" to exceed those limits in your really fast car, it would make a lot more sense to bring your concerns (if you have any) to our attention privately. (hint: our forum is not private) If enough people feel the need to publicly state things like "OMG, I went 68 mph at our last event, I know cuz that's my rev limit in 2nd", the result could very well be courses that are designed specifically to be 45 mph max for "typical cars" so that the "fastest" cars don't ever exceed the limits. I really don't think that's what we want.

Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever exceeded 35 mph.

I'm not mad, just trying to keep us from making mistakes that could cost us autocross sites and/or insurance... neither of which are easy to come by these days.

Hey gang, wondering who I should send a message to. I can't attend on the 6th, I've already paid, but the wife's office holiday party is that day and it's one of those "you must attend" deals.

I wanna go, but with the market the way it is, we're doing all we can to remain gainfully employed

Note to Howard: You still have the timer case, so please make sure to charge the photo-head batteries before Saturday. :)

Dually noted. My opinion of a fast course is well within our limitations! Hell, anything within 40-50 is what I consider fast! I'd be glad just to shift into second, having come from the Jack Neely school of don't-shift-until-9200-RPM's-no-matter-what :D

Check your oil.

This has been a public service announcement.

Sorry, I don't think it's going to be posted before the event. There should be course maps available at the event though.

From the looks of the entry list, class D is going to be a blast. Looks like 7 of 10 entries are turbo cars. Hopefully the weather stays cool!
